Anybody thats ever drivin behund me knows that i have had a problem with blow by and some oil leaks. well on the way to the lonestar roundup in austin, the motor finally gave up the ghost. i had to add 5 quarts on the way down and six quarts on the way back. i had two options. change my name to earl slinger or swap out the motor with the fresh block i had in my garage. after talking to 50ford (kevin kirk), i opted for the second option. friday i brought over my short block, which is bored over .30 with flat top pistons, and a bunch of parts such as an edlebrock performer rpm cam, a doulbe roller timing chain and various other items. i had traded for a set of early model chevy 350 double hump heads with 202 valves and after chasing parts all day we went and picked those up from my buddys dad. we pieced together what we could on friday and waited to hit it hard on sat. i drove my 50 chevy p/u over to 50fords house sat morning and with the help of photophantom, kartbreaker, antichrysler, bass, hamilton, mike creager, jeremy and 50ford'sfinacialbacker( kevins wife monica) we started the task of pulling the motor. we got it out and, cleaned up the parts that i was robbing for the other motor and reassembled the new block with the intent of putting it in on sunday. sunday morning we got the block in and everything lined up to fire off on monday and get it out of 50ford's driveway. and let me tell you 50fordsfinancialbacker got just as dirty turning wrenches as anybody else. she rocks. we finally go it running and dialed in slose enough to take it for a spin. well im proud to say that after two intake gaskets and three sets of valve cover gaskets and three different sets of valve covers 50ford drove it the 30+ miles to my house in denton. we did spring an oil leak and had to pull over once but got it home and decided to tackle it later this week. the truck sound awesome and runs great. so to everyone that helped me out thanks a ton and to 50ford, jeremy and 50ford'sfinancialbacker i owe you guys big time. also to anyone else that was afraid to drive behind me, dont be. you probably woont be able to keep up with me now anyway. i might even race brian bass.
    thanks again

That thing oughta thump with the compression and huge cam it's got now. Glad I could lend a little bit of a (baby) hand on Saturday.

But you've apparently never heard about my legendary reaction time....and I know you are aware that I'm not afraid to break stuff. [IMG]

So, being that the drags aren't too far off...you may have to put your money where your mouth is. [IMG]

Glad to hear everything worked out!!! Wish I could have been there. I'm still working on my own problems. Ran a vaccum check and compression check last night. Everything seems normal til I get to #8. It's fouled and crusted. Clean it and start checking the intake. Seems I have a little leak in the intake gasket. So I just spent $55 bucks with speedway gettin all new intake, carb, valve cover, and header gaskets for my POS. Maybe something I do will finally make it happy. Work all those bugs out and c'mon up to Tulsa. I got a full bottle of CROWN waitin on ya! Later bubbaluv!

Rig one up? You had an automatic oil slick going on all the way to Austin. You just corrected all that.

Spend time elsewhere on the truck like installing some of those Speedracer sawblades in the front. You'll need them after raceing Bass at the drags because you'll be calling out BigRic next in the Woodlands. [IMG]

Hey, no problem with the help! I know you would do it for me [IMG]. That's what the car club thing is all about. I bet no one knew that my wife could wrench like a man. She does sometimes when I need another set of hands, and she has picked up on a lot of stuff. She knows more than some guys I've met. And she can still bake a hell of a batch of cookies!
The truck does sound great, runs really well too, but watch out for Ric, HE's GOT THE FASTEST CAR IN THE VALLEY!

Yes, like Paul Bunyan he will emerge from the woods and command "Babe the Black & Flamed Ox" to overpower you in a quarter mile feat of strength.

Not to stray too far from the*****-talking-Chupa vibe, but I would like to thank 50Ford for having us all out to his place. Monica is an awesome host. I loved the cookies and the kool aid. Why didn't you guys mention my pink mustache before I left. [IMG]

    Bubba,
I'm glad you got it all working. I wish I could have spent more time there "working"(if we can call it that)...Man, 50ford was all over that engine like gravy on hot biscuits.

    P.S.
I think I have the fastest street vehicle in "Monster City"...er...when it's running that is....guess Bass has to qualify his car, too. [IMG]...Trannies be damned!!!

Neither one of you would make a full 1/4 mile. Not even with Outlaw dangling a full bottle of Crown just in front of you while driving his minibike that he would eventually pilot to another drunken wipe-out. [IMG]

Be careful not to wear a skirt while driving your RPU at the drags, Aunti...it just might blow up and expose your "pink mustache" when I pass you on the big end.

I'm sure your car "feels" fast...but back it up with a time slip, Bucko.

    Bass,

You sound a bit scared I'll back my talk-up like you backed your car of the strip last year after blowing your*******...again.

What kind of time slip did you get for that? It couldn't have been good.

Listen it not only "feels" fast it will look fast as you watch the FORD letters on the tail gate getting smaller and smaller.

Oh, The Barons took some rides in it and now they have to build a rail to compete with me.

Hey, to make an omelette you gotta break some eggs. I suppose the 6 cylinder in the modified is going to be fast?

I believe it's called "Put up or shut up."

    [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

Aunti...I believe you don't have much room to talk about transmission troubles. And I don't appear to be shaking. Hemi, Schmemi.

And furthermore, I'll applaud you when you can drive your car across country and still drive the***** out of it on the track.

Wow!!!..that Rhymed. It seems to have dropped a level. Engine envy will do that to a guy.

Listen, I'll race you in a skirt...If you promise that the loser has to continue to wear the skirt for the rest of the day.

It sounds like a good bet for me.

I mean a legit race. You can't make it so we have to get our best buddies to push us down the track backwards. [IMG]

I'm building the jalopy for less than $1500...for FUN, not speed!

As for the Freak-conoline...it's an actual SIGN PAINTER'S vehicle, used for hauling 4'x8' sheets of wood and displays for conventions. I can't get that kinda stuff in a shoebox.
