it was a GREAT time. my main motivation for making my first ever visit to the land of silicone (California) was because my two "heros", Denny Lesky and Paul Beck both had cars in the show. both cars were very well recieved and we were all excited as school girls on prom night when the guys got that big ass trophy that was (by the way) constructed by Stone. Stone is a great metal sculpture/artist (if you did'nt know).

the trophy looked pretty heavy. :D

this was sunday after the show was over and we were tearing down so if Matt looks a little inebriated it's because he is. :D hey, he had alot to celebrate.

and some more of the car from the show...

don't ask me why they put my name on the "build team" sign. i realy did'nt do that much. thats just the kinda guys they are though. they want to recognise EVERYONE that made the slightest contribution. that speaks VOLUMES about their character. maybe there is something to this Karma thing afterall.

  3. After all the threads I have seen on here of the car, it was quite a treat to see it in person. All I can say is the picture's don't do it justice, the car in person is VERY impressive, the workmanship and details are top notch.

I did not get a chance to talk to the guy's, and when I was there you could not get a picture of the car do to the crowd of people around it. Congrats to you guy's for a job well done.

Denny..........Matt...... What can I say? I've always felt that your shop was a ticking time bomb that could go off any minute. Guess what?.........It just went off. I've noticed the last couple of times I've seen you two that it looked like burning the candle at both ends was taking it's toll. Well, now you should be able to relax and enjoy the fruits of your labor.......... NOT!!!!!!!!!!
From now on you'll be under the gun to not only duplicate this feat but to climb the ladder a little higher. The phone should be ringing off the wall when you get back. Hope you'll still speak to the "little people" . Congrats, WELL deserved.

this car will ONLY be on the subscriber issues cover. the newstand will have (i believe) the Dynaliner coupe. same deal in a month or two when the "finished" car is on the cover. the current issue has it as it looked last winter, in primer, at the Autorama in Detroit. Matt probably remembers what month the next one comes out.

  12. The cover shows just the finished chassis with no body. The headline on the cover says "Today's Traditional Hot Rod". The article has the build pictures with just one small pic of the car at the Autorama. You are right about the newsstand issue, it has the Dynaliner coupe on the cover. Great recognition of a real car built by real people.

i think most folks would be SHOCKED to see the tiny little shop this thing was created in. this is not a big dollar shop with all the latest and greatest equipment but they have proven that they can build "big dollar" quality cars.

    Magic Lamp!!!mmmmmmmmm $40.00 - 10 oz. steak!mmmmmmmmmmmmm:D haha,

    great idea Evel! haha....

Johnny, you are a crazy driver!!!.....but good:cool: haha, watch out for those spot lights from the sky.
    -----------------------------

Just got back from the 6700 mile rounder....actually it was around one in the afternoon....but we came back to eight inches of snow and a truck that wouldn't start, a call to a friend, a tractor scrap on the entire yard, relocation via said tractor so we could swing the van and trailer to the big door, unload the car and put the '52 in the shop under the roadster to thaw....whew...but man, what a ride;)

It was nice seeing everyone I already knew and meeting alot of nice guys. It was definatly(sp) worth the ten days on the road...and the weather.:D

I'm going to zone on some t.v. (been a long time!!hahaha)

lurk a bit and go to bed.

    Take Care,
    Matt

BTW, we spent a couple extra days out there in the studio for "that one" magazine ( how do you make to words a link?, say "that one" for www.streetrodderweb.com :D )
It will be out some time I'm sure.

Got to tell all thanks for the kudo's, glad you all like the car.

Will the car be blown apart and painted? I hope so, it deserves shiny stuff all over! Will it be a "driver"?.....or shown first in its shiny finished state? Very cool car that woulda fit great in the "32" bldg.

yeah, what he said. shiny shiny paint would not have hurt this car but it is "understated" which is the IHRS style and that is a good thing. understated and highly detailed. they will drive the piss out of it. Geoff told Matt to burn the tires off and get some miles on it so when he takes delivery any and all bugs will be worked out and he'll be able to hop in and drive it anywhere he wants. as you saw it at the GNRS is pretty much how it will be. i think the headers will be chromed and there may be a small detail or two still to attend to but it is pretty much the way it is gonna be right now.
