   ...Looks awesome @Austinrod...

Any www's for sale @VANDENPLAS is looking...he acquired a 40 Mercury and wants to bring it back to the 50s...The take offs if half decent might be the size he's looking for...no pressure just curious...;)

  4. First time diving into this cool history thread. Today seems to be quirky car day? I dig it. But, after reading 17 pages I cannot believe nobody has pointed out why the car is two tone @Austinrod !!!!!!!

Look at the rebuild pic. The car is two shades of red since they layed down RED OXIDE on the fenders and GRAY primer on the body! A trick I also learned as a teen in the early 80s when I was taught how to paint by my mentor. You can tweak the final color just by the primer, similar to modern tri coats.

I just saw this picture on Stogy’s Homogenized hot rods thread.

Is this the Bill Smith car? Interesting color. Similar details like the rear view mirror, and the grill. It also looks kinda like the same hood center treatment under the trophy. I can’t really see all the details to tell for sure.

I can see the hood hold downs are not there now and no hood louvers then. But that stuff is easily changed and updated.

No, its a big movers Special Hybrid, Rootlieb...One of them was influenced by another and there's nothing wrong with that they have subtle differences...I'm saying Rootlieb...These are pretty special shots taken by a Hambers Father or Friend

Looks like a fun time! I was at that show! That was about as good as it got There are so many notable cars in that shot and you have one of them, so cool.
