My late friend Dale Withers did the restoration, and Mitch Kim another friend did the striping. Great car.
It was owned by Bob and Terry Tindle for over 40 years. Bought by Chuck Lawrence of Camas,wa. and as Marty said restored by Dale Withers and upholstery redone by Paul Rechlin. First car in the NW to have US royal master tires.
When Bill's Roadster was for sale here a few years ago I thought it was a real good deal. Glad it has an appreciative owner now.
Here's the "DANDY DEUCE" article (about Bill Peterson's 1932 Ford Roadster) that appeared in the September 1957 issue of magazine: ... and here's the "DEUCE for the ROAD" article (about the same roadster when Bob & Terry Tindle owned it) that appeared in the September 1960 issue of magazine:
I know it’s just the photography, but that Hot Rod cover shot sure looks like “Dana” red. Beautiful car, glad it’s been well loved and appreciated.
Thanks for sharing @Jive-Bomber...that's the kind of stuff that makes a car show special...I wish there was a Thread or images of the as found condition and resto... @Marty Strode what is the Couver Kid? The Orange Crate another Rock n' Roller for sure...
Chuck was an old friend and I had the pleasure to visit him a few times and check out his stable. He preferred them in black. RIP Chuck.
The Couver Kid, was the last man to drive the Crate, down any Dragstrip. Steve and his Dad Paul restored it, along with @saltracer219 who rebuilt the engine. They put a lot into getting all the correct pieces, and it gave plenty of joy to those who built the model, or guys like me who watched it race in 61 and 62.
Fantastic car and restoration! Comforting to know the present owner is an appropriate caretaker. The Peterson roadster would be great subject matter for a Monogram 1/8 scale model build.
