I know most of you were not friends with my Dad but I am sending this out to a the people who knew him, knew of him, or knew his cars. Today marks the day that my Dad died 36 years ago and also he has now been dead longer than he lived. In a short 36 years he built and raced many beautiful cars. In my opinion the best competition coupe ever built and the most beautiful streamliner ever too. Bot of those bodies were done by Dave Stuckey in Wichita, KS. Very sad day in the Traylor household. We love you Billy Traylor! Here are a few pictures of his cars or cars he was involved in running
Sad day indeed, I have commented before on Bill Traylor, but it bears repeating...he had one of the coolest and fastest fuel competition coupe ever, saw him break the 1320 record at San Gabriel ... he pitted next to me, great guy, when I broke the strap on my goggles he gave me a pair of his ... watching the "Animal" run 184 on its first run, sideways and off the track, then through the lights was one of those rare moments you never forget....RIP, Bill Traylor
296ardun, Thanks for your memory. It is a story that means a lot to me. Before 1963 was finished he had that coupe running 8.19 @ 191mph. I have his class winner trophy from that trip to San Gabe.
Great to acknowledge this legendary rocket man, he left us way to soon. His Stuckey bodied hot rods were pure beauty and faster than fast. Best healing thoughts to family and friends. ~sololobo~
That is a Lola T360 Formula Atlantic car. Not a S. Vee The picture was probably taken at Blackhawk farms in 1975the after Tom Klausler won in the Bahamian grand prix. I could br wrong on the location though.
Nope, not Blackhawk Farms. There ain't no high ground like in the left of the pic @ BFR (about a 6' rise from 5 to 6 though). More likely it is Grattan. RIP Bill. vic
Butch27 wins a prize! My friend talked with Tom Klausler (the driver) and he thought it was waterford hills and the picture sure does match the pit straight.
