Event Coverage Billet Proof 2008 Nor-Cal?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by slammed49, Sep 17, 2008.

  1. What weekend is it?

  2. I'll be there with my 51 Shoe. Heading out early Sat. morning. Right now I gotta go fine tune my camber.

  3. I'm driving my hot rod pickup from the Fremont area. I usually take 680 up to Concord and cut over to Antioch, but I hate 680 because it's a piece of crap with all the chuckholes and traffic and bad drivers. I was thinking of going some alternate route like through the streets of Livermore and up Vasco Road. Would I be nuts to go that way? I've never been over there in the Brentwood area before. Is it a scenic ride with less traffic and better roads, or just a slower way to get there?

    Thanks

It'd be a lot longer if you took 84-->Livermore-->Brentwood-->Antioch; 680 is a lot quicker. I don't think "scenic" is the right word for Vasco... There's not a whole lot to see, and it's a lot worse to break down on.

The worst part of 680 is the stretch from Mission Blvd to just before Bernal in Pleasanton. After that it's smooth sailing

I'll be there with the white 64 Thunderbird for the tenth time. Come by for a brew.

For anyone who's coming from the Sacramento area who doesn't like the 680, take the 113 to the 12 to Antioch. It's very scenic, but there are practically no services. I live in Dixon (where the 113 S. branches off of 80) and have taken that route since the show has been in Antioch.

We have a caravan of cars heading down River Road from Sacramento. Last year we had 13 cars in the caravan. Meeting at Capitol Nursery on Freeport Blvd on Saturday morning and leaving at about 6am.
