This year was the tenth anniversary for a club I am in, and coincided with a charity show that was also celebrating year ten. The club has been supportive of the show for at least five or six years now. We have members, who regularly, attend from Georgia, Hawaii, Kentucky and other states across the country. The show is in Southern California. We also have members that live close by and do not attend. I have never heard any one complain about how far they travel to be together with the people and cause we hold valuable. If they want to attend, they do. If they don’t want to attend, they do not. While we joke about who comes how far, and who doesn’t come, it is all healthy. Respecting each other is how any community improves itself.

These shows are, obviously, important to each of you also. What I am having trouble understanding is, do what you feel is best for your own reasons and don’t try and make it the other persons “fault” just because you disagree. You can both be right. There is no advantage when people start or continue to squat on what should be friends.

If you haven’t noticed, our country is seriously divided right now. Our hobby is a way for us to come closer together to enjoy our own lives more, and help those in need. I will continue to participate for those reasons, and you are welcome to join me or not.

wow... you say you arent hostile but then go on to the REAL traditional hot rod show statement implying that Billetproof is a sell out...

you are saying "I'm not AGAINST your show... I'll just run it down at every turn."

pretty chicken shit if you ask me.

    amazing.

Again with the "commercialism" line... where in the hell are you getting that? Please fill us in. Hot rod shows run on money. It takes money to put them on, it takes money to participate. Thats the way of the world. You keep throwing out this vague accusation.

its astonishing really. I've PM'd you and you've responded with one word answers and refused to explain yourself. I've offered you the phone number to the phone in my hand to talk to me... and yet all you do is make vague accusations towards me and show.

and I take the attacks very seriously.

Feel free to call me and discuss this like adults. 916-207-4645

Just wanting to find out where this is all coming from, where you think the "sell out" is. What about having a hot rod show in one location over another makes its ok vs. some corporate sell out and compels you to slag it at every turn.

I am a real person, as evidenced by the voice on the phone you hung up on. The things you say and do online are very real. Bashing the show for no reason is a pretty serious thing. It may seem like something little, but in reality its not.

chicken shit? Hmmm... perhaps thats a little strong.

But I would think that someone who isnt would have the courage to talk to me on the phone when I called.

Hopefully the riverdale raceway location can be kept for the eruption races, we all had a great time there and it was a nice relaxed atmosphere.

Whats going on with the place, are they closing down?

I think that there is a few things going on here that people need to consider, everything does not always come the way it should in print, Here is what I read:

    1) Alan change the show location, he does have that right, he OWNS the name. Good luck Alan

    2) Some people are upset because 'billeproof" was the only "traditional" hot rod show in the area (Northern Oakland County), that was easy for some to attend, harder for others. I use tradition loosely since in the past few years there have been some exceptions, it is what it is.

3)The people being referred to as "whiners" are upset for totally different reasons - These are the people who have worked for several years to make the show happen, the guys who work the show, the guys that get there early and set up the show, the guys who stay late and clean up the show.

    4) Alan owns the name, sure, and again good luck Alan, the show in ypsi will have a great turn out. The people who are upset are the people that worked for the last 6 years to make this show what it was - from the 170 or so cars the first year to the 500 + this past year.

    5) If they are whiners count me in on that group - I rather have any one of them next to me, than anyone of you who cant see why they are upset - oh ya, 6 years and counting - 2 free shirts and breakfast or lunch has been my pay, not complaining, I did it for the show, and all the people I met over the last 6 years -

    6) As for Alan saying its not about money, I say BS. If it isn't your a piss poor businessman!! Here is my number if you want to call: 248 961 4880.

Good luck Alan - you wont need it, but dont call us whiners we we made the Michigan show happen!!

My .02... if anyone gives a rats a#$

I have no problem with the desire to move the venue, although it makes for a longer drive for me. I am just wondering why this wasnt mentioned at the last show, and that it was announced already that the show would be back in Davisburg?
It seems to me that there was a wedge being driven between Billetproof, and Boomer/Peckerheads/Poorboys, to phase them out. I am concerned because I greatly appreciate their work in the past, that brought this show to town, and not to mention the friendships that have been made with them... I guess that is why some others are having issues with the change.

I will likely attend both events, but reserve judgement..

because the decision wasnt made until after then. It taken some time to get the city of Ypsi on board.

actually not at all... I've been talking with Boomer all along. Just spoke to him today in fact. Spoke with Roger from the PoorBoys as well.

Neither one is pissed off or seeing this as an "up yours" kind of thing, or thinks that there is any evil corporate greed maaaaaaaaaan, or that a show is Davisberg is the only way there can be the only REAL traditional hot rod show....

looks like flatheadpete is out on a limb with this one. Perhaps he'd better check with the people he is purporting to represent. They might want to have a word with him.

    I never have.

  10. I don't think he was talking about you Alan.

All I know is that there is a certain amount of pride and even prestige for me and I think the rest of the FL Poor Boys too, to be involved with the show, We do the best job we can, because our name and reputation is attached to it's success, and the fact that it went from 170 cars to 500+ in Detroit means the Detroit Poor Boys and Peckerheads do the same.

  11. Were in michigan you don't have a couple dozen shows to pick from in our area.

  12. The guy's put on a great show. They welcome you to hang out.a good time is had by all and if you don't then your at the wrong place to begin with. Many a friend made and hung out with at the show.

I respond to attacks and misinformation. You have to.

The way I was raised, a man is responsible for the things he does and says. Spreading false information or attacking anothers business is no small thing. Calling those out that do these things reveals their character, or lack thereof.

How can a car show raise so much ire? These are events that have really one single intent,to have fun! Go to the car show of your choice and stop bitichin about the one you are not going to attend. Greed? Commercilism? Get real! How does anybody expect these, are any other shows to go on with out a money source? Billitproof Fl. is another 60 miles further from me. I will just make sure to put a few extra dimes away each week so I can make it. Alan, keep up the great work you do on putting on these events.

Alan, this is Terry from the Peckerheads. I fully understand why you needed to take over and grow the show. But I don't understand why you let us promote the show for almost five months then pull the rug from under us. We have time, money, effort, and goodwill already invested in the 2010 Davisburg show. As you know I handle the vendors and most have already locked in the date. Some are local food vendors that couldn't go to Ypsi even if you welcomed them. Many vendors have been loyal to the show since day one! I hope you understand why we feel we must honor our obligation not just to them and the Faigrounds, but to everyone who is involved in the show. You left us in an akward situation by not clueing us in to you intentions earlier. Did you think we would not help you? We here in the Midwest were raised to stand behind our word and handshake.

Understood. Like I said, the decision to move the show wasnt made for some time until after the show.

When I talked to Boomer I offered to cover any costs associated with moving the show.

It isnt a matter of not thinking ya'll would help, and this is moving into an area where we should talk about it in private, unless you feel it appropriate to discuss the business agreement between KIRK! and Boomer/you and then I in public.

But let me ask you this...if you were in my shoes and you were to bring that business deal to an end and bring all of the Billetprof biz under one roof, how would you do it? I understand that it could be done many ways, my way may not have been the best, i admit that. But then again, I've never done this before.. so help me out. What would you do differently? Not being shitty, not being sarcastic, just looking for input.

really... what is the REAL problem?

I try to call and talk to you and yet you hang up on me, you are putting words in other peoples mouths and they are not too pleased with it, and you keep up this haunting of the thread.

man, cant we all just get along? ive been reading all this over the last few days, and its rediculous. can anyone say school yard drama?

the dates, times and locations are the dates times and locations. billetproof california has moved a lot since year one. we deal with it.

the billetproof family (alan and melissa) work their asses off, and these shows are what keeps them going. its their job and livleyhood.

nobody should critisize them for making a living. plain and simple.

DEAL WITH THE CHANGES. ITS CHANGE THAT MAKES PROGRESS.

The show outgrew the venue? The fairground is 200+ acres. People were complaining about the dirt parking lot? Hunnert car is on dirt with twice as many cars. No pre party? All you need is the hotel parking lot. Why don't you just admit that you wanted to cut out the middle man or men. You have every right to it is your show.No one would blame you that is good business. But what we do have a problem with is the way you went about it. Leaving a voice mail saying that you are moving the show to a new location and breaking a deal. You could have atleats had the courtesy of telling him man to man.I don't know how you were raised but around here a handshake and a mans word means every thing...................."SPREADING FALSE INFORMATION OR ATTACKING ANOTHERS BUISNESS IS NO SMALL THING. CALLING THOSE OUT THAT DO THESE THINGS REVIEALS THEIR CARACTER OR LACK THEIR OF.........Sound familiar!!!!!!!!!!!!

And we filled the parking lot and the track pit area last year. The other areas are used for spectator parking and if you noticed last year there was a horse even going on in the rest of the area. We are not the only ones at the fairgrounds.

Where did I say anyone complained about the dirt parking lot?

Again, I never said there wasnt a pre-party. I went to the pre-party at Boomers every year and had a ball.

Thats part of the reason the show is being moved, yes. Never said it wasnt. Boomer understands that completely and isnt upset by it. He is a business man. Perhaps you can show the same grace he has over the situation?

I've spoken with Boomer about this on several occasions. Just yesterday in fact. I've also had the discussion about the show with him in person. Funny thing... Boomer doesnt seem to be upset about it.. .but yet you do. Funny that.

Indeed. And if you would like to know the details of the business deal between Boomer and I perhaps you should call Boomer and ask him if its OK for you to know. The details of the business deal behind the Billetproof Detroit show are between he and I.

Business deals come to an end everyday. There are a few here that dont seem to understand that. Boomer-Rama isnt done any more. Boomer had to tell people he wasnt doing that show any more. I wonder if people that had nothing to do with the business dealings behind that show jumped up and down as much as ya'll are... hmmm....

If you would like to discuss this with me man to man feel free to call me.
