Hey Mike, they may not have that much time.
I talked to Alan after the race and the date may change a little bit. There are several other races that he is going to try and schedule around. I think it will still be in October.
If you are building one for next year, better get to it as time has a way of slipping up on you!!
If you missed this event, you need to make plans to go next year. This is about the most fun you can have with your clothes on!!!

Any earlier in October and it's going to be HOT! We know what the NSRA weekend was like! They canceled a nostalgia race at that strip one time halfway through it because of the heat.

I would rather have it in November than early October simply because of the heat.

You are probably right about the Saturday. I think a lot of the people left a little early as they travelled some miles to get there. Not a problem to stay at the hotel on Saturday night, but if you have to work Monday and live any distance from the track, it would be better to have it on a Saturday.
    Just my opinion, Robert.

I would imagine the sunday thing is because of their regular racing program being on saturday.

It was a blast. Next year I hope to have the Hudson running better and quicker. A Saturday would be great, it was a terrible long ride home. But whatever day it is I will be there.

  14. Damn that was a great time Alan! It was the first viewing of vintage drag racing that I could not miss! I would have killed to have my coupe on the dragstrip that day. My coupe will hopefully be there next year with blown hemi for POWER! I also would like to see this event held on a Saturday - DRAG ON!!

You guys were quite a hit with the announcer. Played up the rivalry a little each time. Put some tires that have bite on those coupes and look out. :D

next year we can have a Hudson shootout, best of three, and we'll see if my
cork clutch can stand up to it.

I'm all for it. That will be some nice pictures, the two Hudsons coming out of the hole.

  21. A bunch of us Tampa/Orlando guys were clustered together up around the finish line, and we had a blast.

Around 8 pm Thursday, I started on an old '61 Ford, which was basically a field car, and by 8 pm Saturday, it was as close to a drag racer as it was gonna get. We all took turns at making passes in the old gal. It wasn't the fastest thing around, but dammit, we sure had a HOOT with the thing!:D

Here are a few pics that I took----
