After much consideration I have decided to put Billetproof up for sale. I was recently diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer that has spread to my lymph system. The shows will continue to happen, however the surgeries and chemotherapy make it difficult. While my prognosis is good, I would like to p*** the show along to someone with the enthusiasm and energy that the shows and races deserve. The past 10 years running the show have been such an amazing good time that I know I'll miss it, but I know the new caretaker will have even more fun. If you are interested in being that person, email me - alan@billetproof.com or call 916-207-4645 (ryan Ok'd this post)
Best of luck in your fight. I ( and I'm sure everyone on here) truly thank you for creating and stewarding the awesome Billetproof shows. Prayers for your speedy recovery.
I'm sure you'll have lots of prayers from HAMBers headed your way, best of luck to you. Hope someone keeps the Billetproof ball rollin...
Cancer is a evil nasty thing - yes, you need to do what is best for you and yours - top priority - to possibly get the word out more about being For Sale email/snail mail a For Sale flyer to everyone on your registration lists - someone out there is the buyer - Thanks for all of the work that you have done to keep these great events going
Tough news. I sure hope you get well. My father p***ed of colon cancer. Everyone. Get your colonoscopy! It's s silent killer. 50 and over should be mandated. Mine is scheduled in two weeks. Prayers are with ya. PJ ..
^^^^ yup. colonoscopy. weird thing to talk about on a car forum, it is not as bad as one might think, plus you are a bit loopy with drugs. I had digestive issues and it seems like every pain or fart was going to be cancer in my mind. came out with a clean bill of health and just that knowledge alone was worth he price.
Sorry to hear the news that's a tough one billetproof Detroit is where I met my wife one of the best memories from that show everyone on here should get together and by the show to keep it going
Fight the Cancer Curse Alan, it's winnable indeed. Sad news, have enjoyed the Billetproof in Antioch for many years now, always a great time.
Best of luck with your recovery, and hope your able to find someone who is the right fit to take over the show.
Just so everyone knows... the shows will go on as scheduled. I'm leaning heavily on the great friends and family that I have to make sure they all occur. But its just time for there to be a new caretaker.
Alan.....this is damn sure winnable. I just went through a two year cancer battle that started off not looking good but clean bill of health now. New treatments in cancer research seem like the're coming out daily. Keep givin' it hell and best of luck to you buddy. Guys, as stated above, get a physical every year and start scheduling a colonoscopy and prostate exam/PSA after age 50.....or earlier if family history dictates it. Being there for family is a precious thing.
Geezz buddy, that's a rough shot for sure. Here's hopping for a speedy recovery and many more good times to come. I'll p*** this on come Friday night. The Wizzard
Cancer can be beat but you'll take a beating as well....hope for the best for you. My oldest survivor and a pretty dish at that - had her pair of 36dd's taken off in the early 80's....had only a little hick up since....and she's still a beauty !
So sad to hear. With good prognosis and a lot of good vibes you'll be fine. I'm sure there's plenty of good vibes coming from the HAMBly. I hope you find a buyer.
Hate to see that and really hate to see anyone battling the C Billetproof is one of out favorite events here in the PNW.
All the best wishes from your brothers in the north. Positive thoughts Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Alan, hang in there. What your going through is beatable. My wife was diagnosed with stage 3B eight years ago, she recently had a follow up Colonoscopy and everything was fine. Prayers sent for a quick recovery. Gary
A friend was diagnosed with it about the same time I had a shoulder reconstruction. A few years have now elapsed and he has his health back. A minor blip on the radar and with the support of friends and family you will be back to good health before you know it with everything a distant memory. I'll certainly be following up soon with tests funded by our Federal Government for us oldies over 50. Who knows, if my friend had undertaken the test sooner rather than later, there was a chance that he could have avoided surgery. All the best from down under.
ChopTop/Alan, on behalf of the entire Misfires crew, thank you so much for the events. It always has been inspirational in our own Groundhog Gala. Was a pleasure to meet you on several occasions. Get well soon and come visit us some February A close friend struggling with same cancer. Be strong, you will be in our thoughts and prayers JT: pres Orlando Misfires CC
I second that - you have made so many good memories for me going to these shows - THANK YOU! Prayers for a speedy recovery.
