Well I've been busting my ass on the ol chevy to get it running for billetproof. I've basically narrowed it down to get it running (done), driving (done, I think), and stopping (done). Now I can look at a touch of body work and maybe a seat or two. I've taken the best parts from the chevy and my parts car to get the thing together, so far so good. I've got a base coat spray bombed on so the thing will look half way decent. Now to wire up some lights and put on the grill, bumpers etc before June 3rd.
Here are some pictures from this morning and then this afternoon.

Lookin' good Aaron, Looks like you did a bunch yesterday morning.
I'm hoping to actually have a car there this year. My U-bolts should be ready on monday which is cool 'cause it's taken me forever to drill holes through the quater inch thick sidewall on my blocks!

Well I too have been workin' my butt off tryin' to get my 54 Lincoln done for billetproof. I still have to plumb the fuel and brake system, hang the master cyl. put the front sheet metal back on, make a drive shaft, weld mounts on the radiator, install all the little parts(new plugs, wires, guages, belts, hoses) and OH YEAH hook up the entire electrical system (its getting an 89 5.0 and AOD trans) WOW I got a busy weekend ahead of me!! Any body got some spare time to help a fellow HAMB'er ????

I'm still shooting for running, driving, stopping- so you're WAY ahead of me.

I'm going to try to get there as a spectator this year. Next year I'll drive in!

My goal is to have it running to go to the River Raisin festival in Blissfield in July. It is 3 miles from the house so I can drag it if it doesn't want to start!

Doors are all swapped. Fenders are sort of on and grill has been ripped off of parts car.

LDNFAST I emailed you on the splash pan for the '54!

    Aaron51, did that glass fit?

Hopefully see you guys next week!

    Hey Dan!
The glass fit pretty good, there is a slight gap at the rear of the glass, kinda wierd, must have changed the curve of the door. Hardly noticable, and a TON improvment over the broken ones.
Also I DROVE THE CAR!!!! My buddy and I went and got gas and drove it around town, felt great!

Drove the car...drove the car...drove the car...

I can't WAIT to be able to say that. Court (13 yo son) and I messed with it in between fence posts. In the end we burried the post hole digger with his '51 Ford 8N and broke the PTO adapter. So we got the grill swapped over and one of the crappy park light housings swapped out to a not so crappy one. Splash pan is on there but rough and tomorrow I hope to throw on the bumper. That will make it a complete car for the first time in ??? years.

Green and primer body, blue doors, hood, and deck lid! Bel Air doors, 210 body! Some day I want a cream roof and green Bel Air...

Drove the car...drove the car...drove the car...

I know what I'LL be dreaming about tonight!!

Good to hear the glass worked for you. Hope to see your car next week if I can swing it. The boys are ready to go! I'll bring my car cash so I can play in the swap meet! Maybe someone will have a driver's side park light housing that doesn't suck!

  25. I too have been bustin major ass. i just decided to give it hell and also said fuck it to goin to my buddies wedding (he'll probably get married again someday anyway right), and selling the car. Yes I did think about it, I even had it posted here for a while. I've been tryin to find the time to finish this thing for like four years. I got this week off and decided to pull it over to my garage, lock the doors, and finish this bastard.

I've got the floor done, welded, & seamsealed, the steering box, and column mounted, brake lines ran, fuel lines ran, shifter mounted, all in the last two days.

Brakes bled today, motor pulled out of the corner, cleaned up and in the car, made a driveshaft, ordered a new radiator, windshield stands, and some other stuff i'm forgetting.

Tomorrow i'll be watching another buddy pull wires through it, cause he's good at it and i hate to wire shit. Finish the fuel lines, hear the motor run,( hopefully), and wait for parts to get this damn thing finished.

I'm still not sure i'm gonna make it with the car, but I should definetly be there for the show.

I've been trying to get to it for a couple of years but something always seem to come up. I work in Adrian at the Dodge dealer (lucky me!?!?) so you may see me rollin' around soon.

For a small town, the Blissfield show is huge. Ellis Park is the one you can see when you cross the river. It completely fills the ball diamond and outfield plus now it is running around the outside of the fence and to the east of the diamond. I want to say a couple of hundred cars, easy. Guys are coming from all over. Last year we spend a couple of hours there just gawking. There was a '54 Chev there that I took a ton of pictures of and promptly lost my camera!

Spectator admission is free so you get your money's worth!

6 or 7 years ago it was basically the Adrian Street Cruisers and 25 cars.
