valid and constructive criticisms. Thank you. we did do flyering at some of the shows you listed... although i am from California I have minions everywhere <insert evil laugh here>. I will extend some personal invites to the clubs next year. I had done that the year before and the results were some new friends and a good turnout. But there are more opportunities to get the word out that we havent done. But plan on doing so. Whats tough in Texas is there is no local hot rod magazine in the state (NOTE: Business opportunity for someone here) , in CA, WA, FL and MI there are local hot rod magazines that reach a good portion of the participants. Believe it or not Billetproof is not rolling in cash to afford alot of national advertising, but we will be doing some next year. The location is a tough one I agree. We are working with the town to come up with some ideas for next year... How about a Drive-Inn movie in Downtown on Friday night? Lots of things to ponder....the killer is, despite all of the perceived downsides last years show was a killer 1st year show, it was down a bit this year, but still a good show. So there are many factors to consider. Thanks again for the constructive words. Despite what a vocal very small minority think, I do try to put on a good show and take personal pride in the quality of the show. Its lots of work, but when people have fun its worth it... Do that, and everything else follows.
I didn't have a chance to make it this year, but I can say that the folks that talk shit about an event probably have never had to plan one. Suggestions and support are what makes ANY event better IMO, I will be there next year despite what I've heard and read and I will bring as many buddies as I can. Worst case scenario you get a badass drive and you get to support fellow Texans.
Appreciate that you will come out... but one question... what have you read that would make you not want to come to the show next year?
Im suprised that folks are so hung up on the number of cars in attendance. Number of cars really doesn't have alot to do with the quality of a show. The Kontinentals (god bless em) first show was probably less than 100 cars, held in the middle of a football field and by all accounts of those that attended, an absolute blast!!!
Have you looked at San Marcos for a location for the show, it is some what centralized for all the big towns here in Texas and probably has wider selection of places to hold the show and after parties. If you wanted a second day for drives you have access to the hill country right thee as well. Just my two cents after reading some of the posts.... I liked it so whatever is cool with me... don't even know why I am typing this now...
man...where is the love....where's the drive in movie place south of Dallas on I-45...I think it's the only one active ?...help me...I need help....
Dang and I had to cancel last minute due to my mother having a last minute emergency surgery, so had to call on friday and cancel my hotel. At least My truck would have made the count 151? Or 201? Who cares? Billetprooof is still a great show and it takes a lot to get it going, Ive promoted and coorinated local carshows down here in San Antone as well and you always gonna get THE"Damned if you DO's and the Damned if you DONt's" from everyone! Thats just the way we Texans roll . Anyhow hope to make it out next year for sure, but one lil thing I do agree on is the city/venue. Nutting against giddings and all its a great small lil town, but it just doesnt seem to fit this type of carshow atmosphere? Thats my only rant other than that I was at the first one in 09 and it rocked!!!!
I will admit I did have a few complaints but all in all still enjoyed it just wished for a lil more. I def think switchin it back to one day will help a ton cuz last year it was pretty awesome actually. No matter what don't let it fade away a great show in a great town that is most def appreciated!!
Well I was there with friends and we all drove from the Conroe/Houston area. Its a short trip and one of the reasons I like it is it gives us hiway time. The local shows are only a couple of miles away so out of town events are to many of us the ones we make plans to go to. The Firemans park has every thing needed for the event and many shade trees so how in the hell can they say its not a good location? Of all the shows we go to this is the second one with some shade trees as most are in parking lots or shopping centers. A few cars to look at and plenty of food and drink and people to talk to is what its about for us. Many factors made this a little slow this year and graduation and many other local car events took away some of the cars and spectators but in our opinion the show was good and we will be back and those who didnt make it try next year and make it bigger.
I don't get the complaints about a small crowd, high heat, and no shade at BP TX '10. We drove through fog banks to get to the show, and the clouds didn't even burn off until well after noon. There was a jam-packed crowd most of the day around the main pavillion where our Texas Timing Association vintage race cars were on display and being fired up for nitro-smelly cacklefests. All of us in the TTA and hundreds of y'all attending the show were all standing around in the cool breeze under the shade of the huge trees having a great time visiting and just hanging out with old and new friends. What is that makes some sad souls want to act like snipers and assassins on line, hidden by the anonymity of their avatar and user ID, running down cool things that they had nothing to do with building up? I'm sorry these people have an unhappy life and a shitty disposition. I wish they wouldn't take it out on us. The rest of us are just trying to have fun. Too bad they're not.
Five or six hours of driving in Texas just keeps you in Texas. That's nothing in this state. Complaints about driving time and location inside Texas should be filled in the door pocket under "BS".
