Gibbons of ZZ Top was at GNRS to promote his book Cars and Guitars. His rat rod was there as well (as it always is at the NHRA museum). Here is Billy signing his book and whatever else.. http://www.pbase.com/image/92172612 Ken
I've had Billy's book for a few years already. The Eliminator coupe, and CadZZilla were huge influences on me at a young age. Plus he plays a mean slide guitar....
Unfortunately yes. At least it had a license plate of ZZ Top. Hmmm, maybe I will revize my respect for Billy Ken
Yes indeed. I have seen it outside the NHRA for about a year now. I am told that SoCal Speed Shop built it for him. Here are a couple of shots of the rat rod along with a couple of posters: Enjoy Ken
Billy was at the Twilight Cruise at the NHRA Museum about 8 months ago. I purchased his book and had it autographed then. Intersting to note, he was selling the book for $30 then. This show it was $40, go figure In any event I just took a couple of shots this time, no signature. Maybe I should have had him sign my camera Ken
He stuck his head in the window of my sons Shoebox when I was pulling into one of the Twilight Cruises at the NHRA Museum, and says"nice ride"(gravel voice). I reached for my camera, but it had fallen off the seat on the way there! So...lost photo opertunity...
nope,,unless i'm wrong...some dude in kentucky built it..,,i think he bought it at the street rod nats a few years ago..
Yes, the not so secret lives of public people. It's best to be realistic and not put them on the pedestal. It's too easy to knock them off and it always ends in tears.
Well built yes, but still very much a rat rod IMHO. Also I am sure Billy paid a pretty penny for it. Ken
I ran into Billy G. a few years ago at a car show. He was hanging out with George Barris. We talked about th ZZ Top upcoming concert for about 30 seconds and the other time was all about cars. The guy was real cool and a regular car guy. I asked for his autograph and he told a girl to take our pic instead. First cl*** guy. Note George Barris in the background. Interestingly, Barris was the person I was actually looking for. Billy G. was a great bonus!
Christ! That's Billy with Karem Abdul-Jabbar! The theory that they are the same person has been shot completely to hell. By the way, what is up with your thumb?
I read an article on the car and its builder. It was a guy in KY. I think his name mighta been kirby.
met billy in vegas last year. real nice guy. down to earth car guy. had on that hat and some bullfighter pants. mariochi pants i think theyre called.
Benzine, I never realised my thumb could do that until after I got the pics back! No wonder I never got a ride when I hitch hiked!
I think I read somewheres that the cover is an African nobility hat or ? Perhaps a gift? Dunno? A reverend playing rock and roll? A texan wearing an unusal beanie? You gotta admire his guitar ability. Conversely, you gotta hate his car-acquiring capability.
