Without a doubt, the man has earned the priviledge to do as he damn well pleases, but then, didn't we all in one way or another?

I remember reading that in one of the car mags years ago - I just did a little searching online and found a short bio that said it was "an African Nudu tribal chief's hat from Cameroon, a nod to his love of African art."

I kinda hope he has a couple of them, so he can get them cleaned every once in a while... ;)

He was at the same party as me and Megan on Saturday night.

The truck was indeed built by Kirby Stafford in Danville, KY about 6 miles from me. He builds hot rods, street rods, rat rods, and custom trucks, does custom pain and pinstriping. Everything is very well built and not some pos thrown together, I wish I had some pics of his street rods.

his shop is 2 Kool Paint
    445 Dillehay St.
    Danville, Ky

pics of a few others built by him

  12. hairpins on the truck.. wishbone on the surfboard.. that's creative! :D

  13. Oh, he's a no compromise, hard core hot rod guy.

  14. Is it just me or does the surfboard look too new and shiney. I think it needs something like an old paisley Hobey or G&S with some patched dings on top to match the experienced look of the truck.

I seen the car @ GNRS and thought the same thing, kinda sticks out like a sore thumb.... they need a weathered old board, I got just the one:)!

  16. This might sond corny, but take a look at some original pics of woodies with boards (not that I have any on hand...). Weather-worn car, but a great looking longboard- think about it, the boards were well-waxed.

A freind of mine use to own Billy's first low rider Impala convert, from when ZZ Top was called the Moving Sidewalks. The Impala has the Moving Sidewalks logo on the door. It is pretty cool it has hydraulics on it. I need to go over there and see if he still has it. He has a big collection of vettes, and a few cool peices like the one I just mentioned. Last time I saw him he was getting rid of some of the cars he has had for a long time.

He does seem like a really cool guy. I remember that truck from its days back east. I figured it had to be a Kentucky truck.

I had to laugh when he was doing the book signing, a lady and her 2 little girls came up to just talk to Billy, they werent in line for the book, he apparently knew her from some where (pretty sure it wasnt his kids or wife) but these 2 cute little girls were looking at Billy and smilin while he was talking to them and they werent scared at all (like you know how some kids are with santa claus) he had there undivided attention it was cool, you would have to had been there,it was neat to see!

Billy seems like he's one cool cat with alot of charisma and of course plays one mean Guitar!

  29. Cooter,

Umm, Eliminator (yeah, I know, but most of us thought it was awesome in the 80's), Cadzilla, Kopperhead, not to mention his other cars, his devotion to rodding, and umm, he plays in the best Texas blues band (translate to driving music)...

I met Billy and Kirby in Louisville the night he bought the truck. I was staying in the Executive and when they came out of Billy's Motor home Billy ask me to take a with his camera of him and Kirby. Kirby ask me to do the same. Billy's a real nice guy and I just kick myself in the **** for not having my camera to get a picture of him and I. We shot the bull a little while and I could tell Billy was excited about the truck. Kirby later told me through email that it was picked up and taken to So-Cal. That's the last I have heard about it until now. This is one of the pictures I took.
