Got a New******in Firewall for my 28 Tudor..just lookin for guys who have done this install to bounce some simple (maybe) questions off them..So have you done this install?

was it fairly simple ? straight forward..any pointers?
did the cowel braces have to be cut?..much?
the original wall is spot welded to the cowel panels..did you drill all those spot welds out and pull it completely out of there or did you cut it out and leave the strip of metal that was spot welded?

crazy idea..but are there instructions for this install ?..i didnt get any , it was bought second hand

    thanks guys

I've never installed a******in firewall for a model a, but i like the idea of leaving the spot welds and just sectioning it in. A couple braces to keep things from moving might be a good idea, then just cut out the center of the firewall.

  5. Drill the spots, remove reapeat in opposite direction.

    spotweld drillbit

  8. They leave a HUGE hole. Use a 1/8" or 3/16" bit, scuff the spot with emery paper, look for the center. Drill it out and use a small prybar and some finesse. You will have much smaller holes to deal with when you spot it back in.

yeah thats what i have done..it keeps the hole smaller you may need to "pop" the fire wall out or( fenesse as you say) the wall out ..but it will come..my fire wall (original ) was a mess anyways and i have to clean up the curve on the tank flange but its coming along

i can see where drilling out the remaining welds at the toe board support to get the final lower wall out will be a bit trickey ..but it will come out..i cut my wall in 2 pieces to help make it a bit easier..(as i said before my original wall wasnt worth keeping)

think in going to use some of the drilled out spot weld holes to screw the new wall in for temporary fitting until i have everything set

    Thanks T man

  10. yes, the******in instructions telll you to use temp screws or Clecos if you got them.

They might email or fax it to you. Doesn't hurt to try, even if it does cost you a few bucks.
