Thanks for the info on the pink 54 Chevy. I had studies the car and I figered it could be the same. I really like the new chop on it. In a way I'am glad it is still a four door.
Your Volvo looks very good as well. I had seen an other photo of it before, when it was still in black primer. very nice chop, one of the best I have seen on an Amazon. That muct have been some tough metal work to get the top flow that nice.

2. The re-chop was featured in Lead News #14 by the chopper himself, Allan Bergman, along with the car´s recustomizer and owner back then, Stefan Ståhl. Today its owned by Conny Persson.

I erroneously claimed the Merc Convertible visible on this pic as Kent Vikmo's earlier version of his now hardtopped '40 Merc Coupe.
It's actually the Merc of J.B.'s buddy Klas.

Hi !

You are right, it's Klas car in that line-up pic. The beautiful Buick 1950 is owned by my friend Gustav.

Here are a couple of shots of Klas and me attending a big car meeting last summer.

Saw in an earlier post that there were thougts about if my top was cut off to be worked on. That wasn't the case, though. The reason was that there was no time to do the chop during the first customizing of the car. The car was lowered, it was frenched and nosed and all the other job was done. Have you seen a original 1939-40 Mercury roof ? They are sooooo ugly, ha ha... Just couldn't drive the car like that. Since the body style is the same as the Convertible except for the roof skin, we simply cut the roof off and put it away for next winter. Then it's welded back on in front at the exact place as before and the chop-job begun. Here's a pic from 2003. And yes, the rear bumper is on correct level now, ha ha... [IMG]

J.B,

Thanks for the story on the top of your perfec 40 Mercury Custom. It looked killer as a stock height windshield, lowered convertible (as I first saw it in two b/w photo's in Rolls&Pleats magazine) But with the New chopped top its absolutely georgious. Some perfect metal work has been performed. Its profile is actually more pleasing to my eyes than the famous Matranga mercury.

Oh,no ! It's not Gustav from A-Bombers car. It's Gustav
from Jokers great Kustom. "Our" Gustav has a 1949 Ford now.
Don't have any pics of that, but here's a couple of shots
of Fredriks 1941 Ford.

I'd like to comment in praise of this Cad. It's chopped and hardtopped, but subtly. The headlight eyebrows look like they came from a later relative, as do the wires. The stock side trim has been retained on the front fender, but the rear fender (and, perhaps, the rocker) moldings have been shaved. It's been lowered to a really nice stance.

In short, the car is extensively modified, but in a very understated style. And everything that has been done has been respectful of the Cadillac style of design. A really first-rate car!

(I mighta kept some sort of Cadillac front bumper guards, though)

I would've kept the '49 rear bumper -- I think they're great looking -- but I'm just amazed at how right those headlights look on a '49, and I've never seen it done before.

Thanks, Rikster!
