hi my dad built racing slicks in the 50's and 60's for Bruce Alexander in Oakland. Most racers said he put the bite in bruces slicks. His name was Jack Dill, My name is David. I worked there in the 70's. I came to this website checking out his friend Emery Cook's dragster photos and decided to register. Last hotrod was a 428 cj mustang, looking for something different this time...
Hey there Mrlarge. Welcome aboard the HAMB. Your pedigree sounds very interesting. A little 'word-to-the-wise' though, Mustangs are not hot rods, no matter how fast they may go. Don't get me wrong, I've got 2 Mustangs myself. They're just not HAMB-friendly is all. The HAMB is about 1965 and earlier hot rods and customs built in a traditional style. (Muscle cars and pony cars 66-on aren't celebrated here so much) Spend some time looking around - there's plenty of stuff on here so you can get the vibe. It's a great place, so enjoy yourself. Cheers.
I actually have a Bite by Bruce green decal that I begged from Bruce's tires in Oakland about 6-8 (?) years ago. Guys were very cool, but reluctant to part with any since I was'nt buying anything. They said they were scarce and it was last of the decal run. I'm not sure if I want to part with it because of sentimental value. I was an LA boy (South Bay) and most who couldn't afford M&H's ran Inglewoods because of availability and price. Good race nostalgia chat!
