Go on the bj web site they have the list of cars and how much they sold for. I saw the 50 merc with the awfull flip flop paint it was $45000

  3. Dunno what it went for at the auction, but it was on that online auction site a month or two ago and didn't meet reserve. I think it had a buy it now up around $75k+. I have seen the car in person and it is fantastic. Beautiful paint, sharp Galaxy interior and a wonderfully detailed and chromed 390. Very, very nice.

That black Merc was gorgeous. The flamed one that was after it , not so much. Funny how two of the same cars can come out so different.

If I owned the flamed one I would have krap'd seeing that I was going shortly after the
black one. Still brought almost $40K.

Hhummm I wonder what happen? It was on the top five selling list and it was posted
$90k. They must have had an Auctioneer malfunction.

  13. I kept waiting for it to come up,but never saw it! I really liked the other black 51 with the flatty. I think it went for $95k.
The two other ones, that "mystique" painted one and the baby blue/purple flamed POS were HORRIBLE!!!

I understand $44k is a lot of money, but it would be kool to own a chopped & sectioned
Merc with some Kustom history. I would have to convert it back how Krammer built it.

  17. I liked it better when Larry owned it. Red fits it waaaaay better than the chromalusion.

Can't believe that second black 51 brought 99 over the first one at 66. 66 is good for the one with the 390 and is a much nicer car than the flat head one in the details I think. The flat headed one is still a nice car, but I don't think it's 30k nicer...

Is that a dental term? LOL!! It could be an easy fix by painting the outside suede black
until you got the funds to paint it back red. While your at it need to shoot the dash..

I agree with ya Dave, Murphy's Merc has to be one of the better built all around Mercs in
the country. Check out the front bumper, that is pure Kustom porn righ there....

99k for desoto teeth, flathead, nice chop, og seats is the cream of the crop for a big buck merc... a lot more original parts on it will net more nowadays i think.. people are starting to really appreciate something that old and still mostly with original parts.

  21. I think that's my friends Merc. His name is Tom Murray.

Yep that is the guy, I'm shocked that he sold it. If my Merc is ever that nice, it would be
hard for me to sell it.

  23. Mick, you'll probably remember his candy brandywine '56 olds 2dr ht. He ran a big olds motor and everything under-hood was chromed. One of the nicest mild customs I've ever seen. Plus, he drove it everywhere! It had the same tail lights as the Merc. That's kinda his trademark.

Yes I remember the Olds, I saw pictures on the HAMB of the car at some show. I'm sure
it is still winning its share of trophies. Tom can sure detail out a kustom. The Olds had
a mirror finish and it looked like he was running two motors. Years ago when I was told
he drives it, it was hard to believe.. Who ever put the tailights in the Merc, did a purrfect job.

Does anyone know how may times Kramer's Merc has been repainted. I remember seeing in in 96 at the KKOA show in Hamilton,OH and it was purple then.

  26. Wow...my new screen saver,Too bad about the digital dash but that could be changed.

  27. I'm surprised Larry Krammer hasn't pitched in here,,,He is on the HAMB...

so sad to see what some hair brained or should i say "no brains" did to my old mercury. Had i know it would end up looking this way it would still be in my garage..sad to see this car done in this tasteless manner. Some people have no taste when it comes to working on a car. Car is destroyed. Maybe new owner will redo it back red and put those front tires and wheels in the dumpster where they belong. Sad day for me to see this done to a fine custom.....larry
