I got a friend with a dodge like that, subframed it and is running a tbi 305 out of a 87 caddy. cool car I cant let this thread die <!-- / message --><!-- attachments --> <FIELDSET class=fieldset><LEGEND>Attached Images</LEGEND> </FIELDSET>
I was in the process of doing this to mine when the thread started. before and after. Need to lower the front now. The yellow wheel combo was kind of inspired by rod and custom mag but had grown old and Ronald McDonaldish. rolling 14's front and 15's back
They are 16" Mopar spare tire wheels...plentiful, cheap & usually unused. They're about 4" wide, with a 4 1/2" bolt circle.
Here is my latest just crying for a set of black steelies (anybody wanna help a brother out? looking for a set of OEM ford wheels for her) Gonna put theses on this Since it will have a new rear and front set-up! Also still looking for 1 Plymouth steelie like the ones pictured above...
Here is an article that HAMBers can use to make their own 8" wide reversed wheels. They are for a Ford but maybe some other centers can be used. http://www.fordmuscle.com/archives/2006/02/Steelies/index.php
I thought I would through in one more of my truck even though they are actually wide fives there still steel wheels.
Here is a shot of my t-bird with black steel wheels and whites. I think she looks pretty nice with the black steel wheels but that may change down the road, we will have to wait and see.
right now mine are rust, but once i get to that point they'll probably be black, or some other plain color that fits with the body (whatever color that ends up being). i just think they are simple, i haven't ever heard of a flashy paint job making a car go faster. and if you're going to go flashy you're probably not gonna have plain old steel wheels on your car. that and i always kinda liked the police car look.
My 18" milk trucks (and pseudo-matching 16" fronts) will be black once I rehoop them - they'll mount original 18" Firestone Grooved Rears and 16" ribbed fronts. Steve
my poncho has black wheels because my front rims are different then my back rims and its the quickest thing i could do to make it look decent. i have an original set of hubcaps for the car in real nice shape but i like the cheap instant custom look personally. im going to add chrome lug nuts and possibly a set of chrome trim rings this is the wifes '65. her hubcaps kept coming off so in a bit of rage i took em off and left them in the garage. cleaned up the wheels and hit them with the same gloss black and she loves it way more now, go figure haha
I looked at all kinds of wheels for my Galaxie. I considered Cragars and Torque Thrusts, but the black steel wheels just seemed right. I snagged some stainless trim rings off of a mid 80s Chevy van and I plan on getting Spyder caps when money permits. I will most likely run narrow white walls as well.
On the narrow whites, last year I bought a set of Champiro's for my Edsel, they are very inexpensive and seem to be about an inch and 3/8's or so. You mighy look into them
