Has anybody here seen this thing in person? Was it running at the time? How loud is the thing? (five 350 chevy motors at once?) How much air is blown out of the hood (the thing is air cooled)? I has to be bad *** simply for the fact that the damn thing is 1800 cubic inches of pissed-off V-12......but is the thing obnoxious at the same time? .......A long ways from California and curious
I've seen it a couple of times. At the Road Kings Picnic first and then last year when he was leaving the LARS Runs sweet. Jay has to "Old Man" the steering wheel to see over and around the hood when negotiating parking lot turns though!
He drove it to Bob's Big Boy last year. It was freaking Awsome. Sounded mean, not too loud since the exhaust system is 12' long, and convuluted. I don't think it is too unmanagable. I've seen big block dart with 4 spped that looked harder to drive in the Bobs parking lot. Check out the Blastolene web site. There is a hot rodded Seagrave hook and ladder Woody
Anybody have a video of this thing motion? (with sound) ...or have links to a site that does? I am real curious what a hot rodded patton tank sounds like.
http://blastolene.com/ Their site has recently been upgraded if anyone hasn't been in there for a while. I have a clip here at home of the car being driven, but can't remember where on the web I got it from.
Has anyone else noticed how its never credited to the builder anymore? NOW its a Leno toy that just seemingly appeared out of nowhere. That ****s! I'll give Jay the benefit of doubt and say its most likely the fault of the media...but it still ****S! Personally...I think that car could have been far more impressive had Mr Grubb(?) not fallen into the web of excess with it. It's big, so he decided to play that part up for what its worth. To each his own, but me...I would like to see it with an up tapered frame, parallel leaves and a shorter wheelbase so that the front axle placement better represents the 30's era Brooklands racecars it seems based on. Bill
Exactly! Just look at the cohesive design of the Napier Railton from the cowl forward. Minimalist engineering resulted in a purity of style AND extreme strength. (John Cobb proved its capability many times!) Blastoline Spl has neither...and thats REALLY too bad considering what it could have been!!! The tail says Brooklands but the nose says Modified! I like both...but not in one car! Bill
