Glad your back into it again. I hope the chrome bill doesn't wipe you out. I've been waiting to see the updates. I really dig this project. Your'e doing something your own, and bringing it a great style up to a higher level of workmanship.
I remember that car! I always wondered what happened to it... it's one of my favorites! That thing is going to be friggin wicked when it's done...
Nice. It will be cool to see updates again. Really interested to see what you come up with on the rear spring perch.
I like the front end shot- it has a square tunnel effect from the space between the block and the headers. That's a cool profile......I think it deserves some really cool head lights to go with that square profile......I dunno what...I'm not that creative! thanks!
Cool thanks guys..... The Trantula has a new owner and I will be finishing it for him..... It will be done in late spring..... I'm excited about that one too.... and to be honest its the reason I will be able to finish the Bleedster.... So I have to say a HUGE thanks to the new owner, for believing in me. He is a Hamber, but I let let him tell you who he is when the time is right..... but thanks man. The reason for the engine swap is the engine itself...... It is basically a full race 1955 324 Olds that was built in the early 60's... It has all the killer stuff, JE pistons, isky cam, adjustable rockers, Gotha valve covers, six strombergs..... etc etc.... The motor was built in the early sixties, but never fired. Tom Joyce is the guy I bought it from and he's been cool enough to let me pay it off and freshin it up with new bearings and rings. Basically it was a year ago when I found that motor.... and thats when I decided to pull it all apart. And Oldmobiles rule over Nailheads anyway... haha So thats why, the new motor is a monster. I'm sure littleman will beat me, but I'll give him one hell of a race.... and I might have an edge, being that I'm crazy. haha Detroit is kinda the goal, but It was the goal last year so I'm not making any promises.... I think I'll be happy when its on four wheels again. Yeah its wierd when I was looking at those pics how long ago it was and the fact that the Hamb had 1000 members then....... wierd.
I remember. Does that make me an old guy? Im exited Bob.... Cant wait to see what you pull off this time around.
ditching the nailhead... what are you doing with the headers??? hmmm wonder if they'd fit the truck???
Those headers are awsome, they are from the sixties, but were built for a T bucket...... so they are really narrow, they wouldn't fit on your truck because they barely fit on the bleedster.... I might rework them for pieros madster.....
Good job Bleed!!! Sweet lookin ride man. Next time I see ya I think I might need some seat time. Just a short ride will do. monkey
Boy how time flies when we're having fun! Glad to see you're back into it. Wish I had the time to get my Buick on the road.
all these Hotrods are breeding outa control.............Im inspired.....a little OT, but I just bought a copy of MFS 2 soundtrack, Bob, you guys have gotta tour over here in Oz , I hear that The Lords are...............Nice ........tits.
It is amazing the art designs Bob comes up with. He has alot of thought that goes into every piece he makes and it always comes out so sweet!.. He can also jam on the guitar. Keep up the great work
Yep, hopefully I'll be driving it to thr Round Up first. Thanks for the props guys..... everynight I lay there and dream about it before I fall asleep.... Like some little kid. Its rediculous.
I have heard about all the stuff that he's going to do to the Bleedster on our long trips on the road..and i'll tell you that this car will elevate Bob to a whole nother level...you guys do even know,,,Shure he builds kick ass cars and turns around and sells them...But this car is going to show everyone what the guy can really do. let's just say he's been holding back to shoot his load on the Bleedster. When I first met bob and saw the Bleedster I was blown away. That was the car that I had built in my mind before I even saw the Bleedster and thats when I said I want Bob to build The MADSTER the bleedsters evel cousin. he tells me thing that he's going to do to my car and at first I think this guy is nuts..but then after a few days of thinking about it I say this guy is nuts but in a kick ass way! I think I'm more excited than everyone else cause I see in my mind what hes going to build and it's going to RULE....Move Over Suckers the Mid West will rise again...hahahhahahaha evel
..............ya' know............about the coolest thing about being old is all of the neat shit you get to experience. My rod building "heroes" used to be "Posie" on the East Coast and "Boyd" out West (no politics, it was just whose style I used to like) I've lived long enough to find a whole new group. Vern Tardell out West, Clark Bates (So What) in the East and Bob Merkt (Bleed) in the ""Interior." Young and old, these guys build some baddass "hot rods." Thanks for sharing............
When I saw the bleedster @ the Cheater clubhouse... It gave me a hard on! Bob is a REAL ARTIST. This shit is art. The best artists do their own thing, say fuck the rest, and have a vision. This will be seen with BLEEDSTER, I doubt anyone will ever copy it. This stuff is built off passion, and that is something you can not BUY in a Boyd Coddington garage. Good Luck Bob & "the crew"-Nick
It's going to look even cooler in front of taco johns. The bleedster is going to turn the hot rod world upside down.
For the West I would say Cole Foster or Jimmy White ....Although Vern is a true legend he's been doing it all his life..Were as Cole, Jimmy, Bob, Etc. are the next generation...A buch of Aceholes. Happy New year!! evel
If you turn up the volume on your computer and listen carefully, you can actually hear Bob's ballz rolling around in Evels mouth. By the way Bob, good to see you gettin back on that Bleedster. Love Cheater Carl
YAAhaaaahahaa That my friend, makes me laugh, and I enjoy a good laugh!! Thanks Bob, the car will be killer I'm sure, two thumbs up
