Yep heard a snap and grinding noise from the transmission, wouldn't do anything and saw a big puddle of ****** fluid. So i coasted it down the hill into a safe spot. Time for the 302 to go into it.

I'm currently sitting on the side of the road waiting for a damn tow truck

That ****s! If I wasn't scared of green wooded areas I leave the concrete jungle of Seattle and help haul your *** home. Best of luck & hope things don't cost too much.

Y-block/Fordomatic or FE/cruise-o-matic? (at least I think those were the two automatic options?)

Well after a interesting day I pulled the ****** pan off and found a ton of friction material at the bottom but no chucks. We now believe the torque convertor took a **** along with the governor. But the 223 and ****** are now out and the car is awaiting the 302.

The engine I'm putting in it is just a stock 302 out of my 77 mustang.
I am building a 302 that might be a roller that will eventually go in but that's down the road.

A manual trans swap would have been a quick way to get it back on the road.

I guess a 223 is not much of a motor for that big car.

A set of motor mounts for a 289 63 galaxie and it sits in the stock 6 cyl frame mounts. No cutting at all (we done this swap in my brothers fullsize) good looking car, hope to hear its on the road soon.

Easier than u think. Will need a front sump oil pan from mid 70s back fullsize car. If u use an 85? And earlier aod, the overdrive is cable operated and u can use the stock column shifter too. My old 63 got 22 mpg with that set up snd im doin it again to my 58 this winter. 82 up ltd/crown vic radiator fits easy enuf to with easy to make top brackets.

Actually those early AODs are rod operated instead of cable. TCI makes a constant pressure valve body that ends the gnats *** adjusment or burn up the ****** problem that AODs have.
