Hot Rods blew up two sets of zephyr gears..why?

    I'd be looking at how that car is being driven.....My 39 topshift trans went south about every other time I decided to do some hot doggin' at stoplights....Power was a very lightly warmed 59A. That's also called "operator factor".

    Not sure if you have the same options down there, but there is someone on the H.A.M.B. here that makes a closed drive adaptor to a four wheels drive S-10 five speed. Shorten the touque tube, adapt the trans and mount it and your done.

    I remember as a kid going to the junkyard and buying 2nd speed gear often.The guys would put gears on the shelfs.In building my 39 few yesrs ago,i had to ask myself do you realy want to change gears again 50 years later.I bought 2 trans on the bay both junk.So I found that you could replace the manual 3 speed with a c4 auto trans.
    So I put a Flatomatic kit c4 behind my 8ba and i relealy like it.
