I bought some Blitz Black and the reducer from my local JD dealer, but they didn't have any of the hardener (REN3001) in stock. I can order it and get it in a few days, but I don't know if that is necessary.

I have never used Blitz Black before and I'm a paint novice anyway, so can someone tell me if that specific hardener is important, or are there more readily available alternatives I could use?

    Thanks!

  2. I've got a couple gallons of blitz black but haven't shot it yet. They told me dont mix any other brands just stick with the john deere stuff. I didn't buy the hardener either. Look at any john deere part, their painted blitz black and they are tough to scratch. I'm just going to use the reducer 8/1 I think.

We sprayed a test panel with just the paint and reducer and it never dried completely. I bought another 8:1 hardener and I'm just going to cross my fingers and see if it works on a test panel. If not, I guess I'm back to square one!

The hardener is what makes it tough to scratch and durable.

If you want it to last and stay 'color fast' (not fade) use the hardener.

I never used the hardner, but I might suggest useing a sealer first. Even with a good covering with primer it has a tendency to soak up into any body filler thats on the car. And when it's all dry the body work will show through.

Also I might add that you will want to shoot it all at the same time. Outside temp and humidity WILL make it turn out differently.
