    Hi People,

Can anyone ID this block for me, been told it's a SBC "010" block with additional tin and nickel added for strength. It's a 4 bolt with a block casting of 3970010 (69-80 350?) with the 010 cast on its side indicating its casting number not the "010" aspect. Its also got some casting on the rear face which is supposed to be where you'll see the "010" casting but I have remember reading that there can also be date castings there as well so not sure which I'm looking at. Also should there be a "020" casting with the "010" on the rear face? Obviously don't want to pay for "010" if it's just a date mark, anyone know?

    Thanks

    Steve

Nothing special. One of the blocks cast at Saginaw Mi. Gray Iron Foundry. Built at Flint Mi. engine plant. The .010 .020 markings have no special meaning for the enthusiast. 010 blocks (3970010) are the most common. Made with both 2 and 4 bolt main bearings. Several casting revisions were incorporated in the design during its long production run...:D

The big 010 on the side indicates it's from the later years of the production run.
