blocking off carbs on a 3 carb intake (straight six)

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by PBR Allstar, Oct 28, 2008.

  1. So I was given an offy 5414 three carb intake for my 250 inch straight six '63 nova wagon. The engine is stock and I don't have much interest in changing it otherwise, I'm putting the car together as just a cruiser. Anyway, I wanted to know if that works out okay to just run the center carb on the offy three carb intake? Or will I struggle? Any suggestions, opinions, etc? Try not to flame me if you think this idea is a diabolical one, I like the looks, but don't want to spend a ton to build up new cars for a proper triple setup, I mean, if I wanted to go fast I'd put a sbc and be done with it, but I'm not building it for that reason.

    thanks,
    ford.

I had 3 carter yf 1 barrels on a falcon with a stock 200 ford the only thing that I did was put a smitty on it and a hotter coil. If you have it set up as a progressive linkage your going to also have to take the choke off of the outer 2 carbs it should be just fine once you get it dialed in better fuel distribution to the outer cylinders too.
