Hey guy's- made it this far,but it's getting a lil technical........S0 here's what I'm looking for- First-Trying to make sure that I locate my return springs in a "safe" place. What my pic's show is off of the T-BAR arms,and I will make a proper mount,with correct (2) springs=Drill and tap into the T BAR mount. Pics are for seeing what I mean..... I can also grab off the cross shaft mounted at the rear of the back carb. I would think that stopping the linkage( at the T-BAR)(springs there),might suffice,but if something goes haywire atop, Who knows...... I can run at the cross shaft also,or "too". Another item I want to address,is that though the allen bolts'/screws, thread into the linkage arms,i'm thinking a nylock nut on the backside,to well,save my "backside"! I've tried to keep things parallel, and with this configuration, everything operates great! I did space the arms to the links because I was seeing some distortional twist in the cross shaft (pics). With the arms moved "in", I'm not seeing the twist,so I figure I getting there...... If I'm missing something,or my A$$ might be on the line for being blind to something,please comment. Thanks-Kid
Just throwing my 2 cents here. That is an interesting set up. I would probably flip the lever on the cross shaft that pushes the carbs around so it points up and connect the link to the carbs to the to where you have the link between the carbs connected. This will pull the carbs open instead of pushing and give more leverage over the vacuum on the ****erflies.
I'm running two 650 Holley carbs, mounted cross ways. I have a light spring directly on each carb arm, and a medium spring on the pull arm mounted on the blower base. If anything were to come loose, the carbs will close.
I honestly see no reason for all that hardware. Simply attach a throttle carb to the rear carb throttle arm in the hole just below the connecting rod end you have attached. Fab a stay bracket for the outer cable sheething and attach the other end to a throttle pedal. Do you not remember the old proverb....."KISS".
Thanks all- and I'm a firm believer in KISS! Just mock up,and vary variables.....Should have ***led the thread differently for pics..... I will most likely be using mechanical linkage through the firewall, and am/was/ are just mocking up with the parts I had..... had to make the T,and the bracket below to grab the blower. Yes- look's full on erector set now........ Flipping thing's around,trying different configurations/geometry , and the mo' simpler the better...... If I used a cable,i'm sure things would be very simplified in this case,but with what I'm trying to do,I think having a straight shot from the firewall will be a bit better for me..... BUT- I do not discount all the advice,and will explore all avenues mentioned , and try them. Thanks!
