just bought a 6-71 blower off craigslist. Its a detroit 6-71 redone by a company called magnum superchargers. Im hoping to call them next week, but the issue I have is I believe the setup was originally for a big block, guy I bought it from sold it to me with a small block intake. The snout seems awful long with the small block setup so long that after some rough measuring, it looks like my long waterpump will clear. so I'll be able to use my long pulleys, power steering setup, I may just have to fab a alt. tensioner. Only other thing is the lower blower pulley. Back of the pulley will sit about even with the front of the crank pulley, So I'll need a spacer to bolt the pulley to the balancer. The length will need to be 3.25" long with a bolt pattern for the balancer (small block chevy) and the blower pulley pattern. Anyone make such a animal? thanks.JIm

Spacers are available from BDS (Blower Drive Service), Weiand, etc. to space your lower crank blower pulley away from the end of the crank. This is very normal. ALso, the 'V' grove pulley is sandwiched in between the crank pulley and the end of your balancer, to line up with your alt. There are two bolt patterns for a S/B Chev balancer, one for the stock 'V' grove pulley and the second pattern (aftermarket) with all six bolts for the blower pulleys. If you have the stock bolt pattern on your balancer, you will require the adapter which bolts directly onto the balancer. This adapter holds and positions your spacers and lower blower pulleys, as six bolts are threaded 'only' into the adapter....
I called the shop in minn. Talked to the owner that builds the blowers. Real nice guy, been doing this stuff for 40 years. Anyway, turns out the long snout is going to require me to run a flat back pulley, to pull the pulley towards the blower, Then he's going to get me a 2 V belt crank pulley and a spacer so I can use the offset flange lower pulley I have now. I should be good to go then, Granted it would be nice to have the pulley a bit closer to the block, but it should work fine. Its not a all out motor, just a weekend driver with a bit of polished aluminum sticking out of the hood. jim
