Projects blower question?

A friend has some 53 detroit diesel blowers on his shelfs and we got to talking about potvin setups. Does any one know about the 53 style blower? where we cam get some sealed bearing ? <!-- / message -->

 

I have never seen a 6-53 or any other 53 used on a car before. As far as a sealed bearing, pull them out and take them to a good bearing house in your area. If they are a good bearing house they can match them for you. Here in Houston we have Channel Bearing. That guy can match anything. Good luck

 

thanks hemirod.. might have to make a trip to Houston ... im just north of Beaumont . if we can figure out a coupling alinement , we might have a fun prodject..

 

I am embarassed to say that I have no idea where Buna is, but completely agree with Hemirod. There's a shop in San Antonio called San Tex Bearing. They are a bit expensive, but I haven't stumped him yet.

 

One more thing on the 53 blower: The clearances are much larger than a normal street blower. You may have to check with a good blower shop to see what else you will have to do. Other than build an intake and a drive snout. Good luck and keep us posted.

 

What are you going to Potvin?? i'm playing around building one for my 6-v71 and my 51' 331 hemi

 

got some sbc's that we were looking at try to put the blower on and got the crazy ideal of a potvin set up... but i do have a nailhead that would look good with a blower.....
