    Hello,
I am in the process of building a 1937 international into a rat rod, and I am slowly picking parts up for the motor and I ran across a detroit roots blower, I know that it take's a bit of work to mount one up but thats no big for me.. What I can't seem to recall is GMC making a stright up 8-71 and a 8v-71....the guy who has the blower swears up and down its a 8-71... not a 8v... But what i need is info on how to exactly I.D. one I know that each of the 71 series is aprox. 1" longer than it's smaller sibling.... and the v series differs in I think mounting flanges.... Please correct me if Im wrong.

    Thanks a ton!!

  2. The v style did not have a vertical bolt pattern/flange to hold it to the manifold.

Thanks.... But I was wondering will a 6-71 drive work on an a 8v-71? and exactly how does the blower bolt down is it just angled bolts?? any help would be great as I don't have this blower right here in front of me to look at..

not too likely that the drive would work. yeah, the V's used angled bolts, so it won't fit a normal blower ma ifold, although if you really want to you could make it work....if you have the means to do so.
