Out of curiosity, how 'readable' are the gauges to the extreme right on the dash? I realize the cabin/interior width isn't huge, and a vacuum gauge my not need constant monitoring while driving, but is a Detroit Lean required to view the gauges on the passenger's side while driving?

No, the cab is small you can monitor everything. As a side note, I copied the gauge layout my dad did to this dash in the late 50’s. That’s how long this car has been in the family

Looks tidy! I like the olds detail on the grill insert. Out of curiosity what’s the sleeved wires near the oil pan? And can I see how your running that brake line along the drivers side frame rail?

thanks man, cars getting so close!

    Looking good.

did you make the radiators hold down hardware? Curious how stiff the spring is.

Perfect! Thank you. I might have snagged on and it’s sitting on the shelf but little stuff like that hit the “out of stock” status in 2020 and a lot of it never came back. Finding more common sources for the little stuff has become my main route now

It did require cutting a coil or 2 off the spring and grinding a little ring down on the bolt. Oh yeah they are metric but accept a sae wrench. After putting the nylock on and tightening the tension seems acceptable

  21. Yep . . . @nochop is correct . . . the quarters are tight in a Deuce 5wd Coupe . . . the driver can easily monitor all the gauges.

In '57 or '58, my father did a very similar gauge layout in our coupe:

    HEMI32 Interior - 1973.jpg
    HEMI32 Dash - 1973.jpg
    circa 1973

    HEMI32 Dash - 2006.JPG
dash is pretty much the same today

Man it’s getting so close! You’ve really done a great job with this! Tearing apart a driving car and changing it all isn’t a feat for the easily spooked!
