Blown '38 Lasalle Coupe Build.

You had mentioned earlier that you like the look of the '39 Ford taillights, but I agree they are probably too small. I saw these at a car show last weekend, not sure how long they have been around, but basically the same design but bigger. They are 1939 Lincoln re-pops. I think I'm going to put them on my '37 Nash.

Thanks, but I talked to fink'd last night, and he's getting started on frenching in 41 stude lights, as suggested by 41dave.

 

To get the transmission adapted, I need a 42-48 Cadillac bellhousing, if anyone has one.

 

Buddy, That bellhousing you are looking for is for what motor ? If it is Ford, I have a stamped steel bell housing from a '40s truck. If you can use it - it is yours. Let me know if it would work.

Ok, help me out. I THINK I want to louver the hood, but I'm not sure.The hood will have the stainless tips in the pics.Will louvers be too much with the tips on?

What do you guys think-louvers or no?

Also, I'm trying to figure out what rims to run? I'm partial to wire spokes, but....

I'll vote for no louvers on the hood. But does the blower fit under it?

no louvers on the hood for me....keep the sleek look, the louvers will destroy that! Just my opinion!

Well, I've been thinking about this for the last 8-10 months, and I've gotten pretty wrapped up in this engine build. I could have built a hemi, for what I have in the engine, and been done with it by now. I finally decided that this build is overkill for a hotrod!

Sooo, I've decided that the only way to do it justice is to run it on the salt, and find out if it's as bad*** as I think it will be. You're going to see this thread sidetrack a little, as we get the car ready for Bonneville 2011!

Of course, I've never ran there, so any tech advice from EXPERIENCED VETERANS is welcome!

 

I(f the whole SCTA/BNI rule deal seems to be getting to be to much. And depending on how fast you think your going to go. There is always the World of Speed meet in Sept. They have a 130 club and a 150 club that have less strict rules. Check them out on the USFRA web site.

 

Well, the Lasalle is being put on the back shelf for at least a year. The body mods I had done exclude it from the cl*** we want to run, and I don't want to 'undo' the mods.

BTW-I'm looking for a set of flathead 346 tank heads. I'm looking for the ones that say 'Cadillac', if anyone knows of a set.

Buddy, Sorry to hear that the Cad is going on the market. I can understand your changing goal to LSR. That Chev is going to be on HOT racer on the salt ! Are you planning any trips to El Mirage ? I am only 15 minutes away for El Mirage. Looking forward to more progress on you LSR Racer.
