That looks like it is at least a 1/4" thick. Still a bad *** car though.

I believe the 62 SD escaped damage. It was next to an orange Superbird which didnt fare as well.

The orange Superbird was HAMMERED on all four corners and top. Broke the rear gl*** which is a unique piece. It was a pretty low mileage car too.

The beautiful 62 Ford 406 car was just hammered. That car was so nice. I hate to see that, and I feel for all the guys and their losses...BKH

So many posts to this thread that I have not read many. But, I am amazed that the figure being tossed about is a million and a half in damages. Having viewed many photos, I feel quite certain that there is at least three or more million in damages. Now, I wonder who is liable? Maybe the chain of liability goes from R and M then to the tent company(ies). Lawyers are going to have a field day over this. And it is them, the lawyers, who will make a healthy profit. My heart goes out to those owners who have sweated their cars to auction condition and to those who just bought cars and likely do not yet have insurance. I think insurance, or lack of it, is not a critical issue. Either R and M or Omar, the tent maker, should be on the hook. It is interesting that there are no damages at Barrett-Jackson. Maybe not using a discount tent company made all the difference?

Thats ALOT of bondo. Hit a good size pothole and the whole side of the car might fall off.

  11. OK,a couple of things,First its NOT R-M auctions it was Russo-Steele auctions. Two a couple reasons Barrett-Jackson did not have the damage is a couple of things #! the tents for the most part were down in a bowl so much of the wind really went OVER the tents, the tents that were kinda in the open were protected by large trucks parked in the wind side of the tents.Russo Steeles tents were in a large flat field/parking lot so the wind had a direct route Barrett-Jackson was watching the weather,I even heard fireman talking about it while eating lunch that day.So the blame (if there is any, which I doubt) as it were could be spread out in many places. And yes I was up there the day the **** hit the fan,it was crazy..........................

Why must comments and accusations be made that make that are both unwarrantted and unsubstanciated. Suggesting that the tent maker was discounted and of poor quality only goes to show ones ignorance of the facts and situation. As posted earlier I stated that judgement and liability could not be determined until the engineering and weather reports as well as the entire investigation is concluded . Barrett could have been in the same situation as several of the tents they used were similar to some used at R&S. The wind gusts may not have been as strong a couple of miles to the east. and as such spared those at B&J.

I would say about 75 % of the rods and customs have bondo on them ,(some a lot thicker) than others.LOL.That cool old car you just bought may be real pretty but in reality it could be a bondo buggy.Get a rag ,wrap it around a magnet and check out your new ride. You just might be surprised,YIKES! LOL. That is a shame that happened to all those nice cars at the auction.
