The Wisco Maniacs put on their inaugural Blue Ribbon Beer Run on Saturday 7/13/13, what a cool show! This traditional show was held at the old Pabst Brewery in Milwaukee, incredible setting. *****in cars, pinup contest, great music, cold PBR, and beautiful weather made for a perfect day. I showed my newly acquired '36 Chrysler coupe for the first time.
Thanks to the Wisco Maniacs, f&$king awesome show!!! You gotta do it again next year!

I didn't take nearly enough photos, hopefully some other attendees will post some too. Here's a small album, please excuse the phone quality.

Weird, it works when I click it.

Interesting, somebody just told me that this was the first ever car show in the city of Milwaukee proper.

    "somebody" was incorrect.

On September 4, 1955, the Artists Rod & Custom Club, held the 2nd ROD-O-RAMA in the "outdoor" parking lot at the TA Chapman Department Store, 200 E. Wisconsin Ave.

On July 15, 1956, the Barons Auto Club held a rod & custom Auto-Rama on the roof top "outdoor" parking lot of the Allen-Bradley building. 200 W. Greenfield Ave.

From 1957 to 1972, the annual rod & custom shows were held "indoors" at the Milwaukee Auditorium, 500 W. Kilbourn Ave.

These shows were real rod & custom car shows. All held in Milwaukee proper.

The "Blue Ribbon Beer Run" could be called the first "trenditional" type auto display held in Milwaukee proper but does not represent the original "rod & custom" shows held in Milwaukee, outdoor or indoor.

Nice bit of trivia there Curt, thanks! Tell me you were at the '55 and '56 shows! That "somebody" was a guy at work, he got his facts from the evening news report about the show.

If you want to know old Milwaukee Car Show history, Curt's the guy to go to, pictures and all. Even though he is an old turd I'm not sure he was at the shows, if my math is right he wasn't quite old enough to drive, but close.

It was a great show, especially for a first time event. They were offering brewery tours and there was pretty decent access to the buildings in the area.
I had my Imperial at the far end of the same street as your Chrysler. I was checking that thing out every time I walked by, very cool.

There was other car shows downtown; In the 80's one was on either Wisconsin or Michigan Ave sponsored by Lazar rock station and the other was the closing of the Eagles Club where they had a sock hop sorta thing.

The 'swill water' is no longer made in MKE, but it seems to be very popular anyway.

Love me a Cold ,Tall neck PBR. PBR is contract Brewed by Miller for Pabst nowadays. Common practice. Do people really think Sam Adams is all brewed in Boston ?? lol

  20. I don't give a **** where PBR is made, that's a cool venue for a show. I've wandered around the area a few times, great old buildings.

Cool Pix! I drove for PBR back in '68-'69 and still like it, but it is better in a bottle than in a can it's hard to find on draft out here in the west.Pabst had a premium beer called Andecker which was top notch as good as the beers in Germany I got spoiled on in '65-'67 Army tour.

noclubjoe, love your '38 Chevy coupe, *****in car man!

  25. What handsome buildings from the late 1800's! Cool cars too.

We have a Pabst building in our little downtown. From about 1900. It still has the cast metal Pabst logo on the front facade. A much smaller two story. Apparently the Pabst folks were into real estate as they spread their empire across the land. Our building was never a brewery itself but we know they shipped it in here by rail.
    Thanks for sharing.

There's nothing like a cold PBR longneck. I live in Va. and I drink it in several organizations. I get it for a $1 on draft and 75c at happy hour. I happen to be a seasoned citizen so I have to watch my funds......JT
