  1. I guess this 409 didn’t get winterized.

Haha! It's hard to imagine that something wouldn't do something it wasn't designed to, who would have thunk!

  4. A friend just picked this up. He has a bare standard bore 409 block so hopefully he can use some of this. He gambled at $300 not knowing the block issue. Husband died and the family is selling the pieces he collected over the years. It was in a pile of other parts. But I think he’s ok.

I have one of those cast iron marine oil pans for a SBC, must weight about 50 lbs or more.

  7. This pan is aluminum.
Pick up is in the front.
These were mounted backwards in the boat. So I guess that why the pickup is there.

If nothing else he can turn it into a coffee table and sell it to a hipster for $2K.

  10. I mentioned a table. He said if the bores are good he might just clean up that nasty brass and take a shot at welding it up.
    He’s a former boiler maker

Ahem, Boilermaker. One word, capitalized as in "International Brotherhood of Boilermakers, Iron Ship Builders, Blacksmiths, Forgers and Helpers".
