Maybe some of the new guys has never heard of "RATSTER". THE RATSTER. Maybe some of the old guys has forgotten. Ratster wants some pics of boattails. Show some pics of boattails. dammit. (when I talk tough, does it turn you on???)
this belongs to Bill Albright (one of the movers and shakers in the Hudson-Es***-Terraplane world) with body work by **** Dean.
The car at Vegas belongs to a friend of mine. I helped him out with some of the fabrication. It was a roller when he got it but had to be about 75% rebuilt. The tail used to be plywood and fibergl*** and had to go and I had a rough 40 ford hood so we shortened it a little and used it for a new tail. The front half of the body is still how it was before, a shortened 28/29 cowl and some sheetmetal added in the door area. We added some conduit to the edge of the ****pit. The tail has a hinge in the point for battery and fuel tank access.
Here's mine at Gunther's Christmas truck show Never try to replace a Mercer with a Stutz. Dispite it being 15 years newer and a bunch of hot roddin' done to it the Stutz was "No Mercer" So I swapped it off for a 1927 Mercedes S we'll see if it's better
I've always wanted to see one of those built. I wonder what the car industry would be like if he didn't get squashed.
I love this car. I'm building a Boat tail right now. Made from a 31 Nash and a 51 Ford F-1 hood for the rear section. I'll post pictures tomorrow.
