Yep, the show aired last night and it revealed that Paul Sr. commissioned ASS to build a East Coast Show Rod. Such and awesome car!!!! I have said before and I'll say it again, I think Bob along with Rudy Rodriguez are my two favorite builders out there right now. Bob doesn't seem to touch anything that couldn't have some straight from the hey day of hot rodding. I think it's because he cares about hot rod so much that fucking them up is not an option. He understands the importance of paying respect to the cars built yesteryear and uses each build as an opportunity to display history as it once was. Pretty much everything he's built, I could see myself owning. His roadster is awesome.....
A moderator pre-emptively closed this thread thinking of our "no reality" show policy. I've reopened with faith. A couple of things to keep in mind: 1. You don't know the person this car was built for. You know a character made by a few producers. 2. This site focuses on cars - not made for TV characters. Focus on the cars.
so bob, how much work was yours and how much was your parents ? my dad didnt build anything but it would be cool to have one passed on and make my own touches to it.
Here's an article on it: http://www.rodandcustommagazine.com/featuredvehicles/0703sr_1932_ford_roadster/viewall.html
It said Jesse made the clear steering wheel but it didn't show how they got the clear on it. Did they dip and shape it or something or was there a mold used?
Awesome cars in this thread. Nice mix of an old build that is back on the road, and a new build with the old look. I always wondered if a modern shop and a modern person who is paying for the build, could actually build a "little pages" car and get it right. In this case the customer and the builder created something special. (IMO)
Always admired that rod of yours Bob. Definitely unique and even cooler knowing the history behind it. I was wondering if we would get to see some pics of this new ASS rod. Do you have any interior shots you could throw up?
X2 - I haven't had cable / dish for several years & would have to say both the cars referenced above are just flat beautiful/cool/sick/bitchen/etc. etc. etc. Thanks for sharing them with us "broadcast tv only" types.
