Bob Drake's shipping cost-Too high or am I high?

As stated before, shipping cost have become a profit center for businesses. In order to stay compe***ive, companies will only mark up items about 20%. Then when you order the part the shipping is high. Even if it's a few bucks extra profit; 20% margin plus the extra bucks on the handling can increase the profit 10%. When I became an Alliance vendor, I considered free shipping. The problem is shipping is not a fixed variable for the cost of the item. That is why I decided to offer a fixed discount for Alliance members. Also, I ususally ship the item before I receive payment. I know that's not a good business practice, but when I bill shipping to my customers it is to the exact penny.

If it isn't already, overcharging on shipping should be against the law.

Look at the positive side. Now you don't have to put those cheesy Chinese-made parts on your car.
