Looking good now and shows a lot of hard work has been going on behind the scene.

Looked at the link. Really like the behind the scenes look at the tooling and work required to make this happen, would love to see more. Just want to make sure...is every panel available for the body except the hood?

How much would one of these bodies cost by panel or do you guys offer these pre-built?

Where can I go for more in depth info? LOVE the 40's

CONGRATULATIONS Bob and thank you for your many years of producing parts for 40 Fords and other years. I still have one of your first locking gas caps.

Guess I could read the link:rolleyes: I see you will be offering these assembled, will all the panels be available to like a Dynacorn body? Thanks!

its cool.. lots of hand work done.. which will keep costs high.. but hey, they are now making 40 fords ( that sounds odd to say out loud, im so use to saying they are not making them anymore.. )and as long as the machines you have designed to stamp the body panels out survive. the future will have some cool cars to look at ( even if they have to be electric ). did you have to special order 19 gauge steel sheets?

    keep up the good work.

I have been buying Bob Drake since the early 80's and have seldom been disappointed. Sure good to know that if someone takes a shot at my 40 coupe I can buy repair parts. Great work sir.

What a lifetime achievement from a gas cap in canoga park to this '40.
    Congratulations!

  15. Nice update, just in time too.... someone a few weeks ago brought this up and was doubting that it was ever going to get finished.

    Looks good, Bob

Bob, your Dad would be damn proud of you - awesome achievement.

  18. Bob....that is simply the coolest car-related thing I've ever seen.

I shook your hand at Pate (or maybe it was Goodguys...it was the same location) several years ago and consider it an honor to have met you.

And Bob....Thou Mighty Crafter of Quality Parts.....please oh please....make a 28/29 Model A coupe body!

  19. And Ryan....just for the record....can we get "FNG" removed from Bob's status?!!

We are so spoilt for choice these days. Great job!

  22. Wow Bob, that is just beautiful, the 40 has to be one of the best looking cars ever built and you and your team sure have done old Henry proud with that effort.
    Keep up the good work.

  23. Lots of work to finally bring this to fruition. Great job.

That is really cool, New 40 ford coupes.....I am not trying to sound negative, But I would say cost is going to be up there on the high end of your bodys....and 39-40 ford coupes are still pretty plentiful.....I would say you will prolly sale alot of panels and not so many complete bodys. Looks like a super nice product.....brookville has done the 32 stuff, S.A.R has done the 34 3 window....I can not for the life of me figure out why someone has not done the 37-41 willys.....I mean a real steel willys is priced for more than all these ford bodys, And is also alot more scarce, I think they only made like 7500 willys coupes from 37-41 compared to hunderds of thousands of fords. It may just be me but If I were going to invest a couple hundred thousand dollars in tooling, I would Do the willys body, I know there are a couple of guys hand making some willys stuff, but a hand made roof panel is fetching around 15K and there is a 2 year wait time. Doors are $5500.00 each. And also as far as stamping purposes go the willys body would be easier than a 40 ford....just my 2 cents

  26. Mr Drake,
If you're reading this, it would be cool if you offered louvered hoods for the 40's as well. It's difficult to find a good louver guy these days (and nothing looks more natural than a 40 with a louvered hood)

Wow, I'd read about it but seeing the photo of the prototype is something in it's self. Nice work and it's great to see that the body panels are available now. That makes saving an existing coupe a lot easier.

Most of my 40's badging, it's trunkhandle, grille, rubber parts are all from Bob. Not one ill fitting piece in the bunch. Likely it's better quality than original.
