I have no idea when the next time I will see it will be. It lives in Oregon, I am in Washington. I don't know the owner or anythign, just saw it at the show and they let me "pose" with it while taking the display down. Sorry man!
When did ya move to Tacoma???? Uhhh.............nope.............. There's a few small pics of the 'Crate at the bottom of this page..... http://demonoscarclub.com/ourmembers.html
Spelling is "Bob Tindle" . Image of the car in front of Bob's car lot , 3103 Union Ave ( now MLK ) Portland , Sept . 1962 . This is how it looked when it won the GNRS.............Z.
when the late von hunter did some lead work on the front end of my nomad he told me he had some pictures of the car back when he did a lot of work on the body and painted it. ill have to call his son scott and see if he ever found any pictures of it after his dad p***ed away. scott said he was just a kid and he got some pictures of him sitting in it. another buddy of mine chip starr bought all of the trophies and hot rod proofs from tindles estate and sold them to the owner. they were way cool. if i get some pictures ill post them
I wonder if that was the first car that had ghost flames. In the show pics from last year or so, I see subtle flames coming up from the bottom of the body. I can't see them in that great vintage car lot pic.
Sorry for digging up an ancient thread, but I thought I might find some help here. A good friend is building the model kit of the Crate - he is one of the premier drag race modelers in the country and he'll be doing it to the nines. He's got a few questions about the actual car and I was hoping that I might be able to find someone with Ted's contact information, or who might have a lead on finding him. I did locate an email address but my friend tried it and it's no longer active. Anyone know how to get in touch with Ted Gord? Many thanks!
