I just started a Triumph bobber project that kind of fell in my lap. It already has a rigid tail and a HD rim laced to the rear hub. I want to get a nice looking 16" tire for rear wheel. I know Avon makes the Speedmaster MkII and Coker sells both their own and the Firestone vintage motorcycle tires, which are all great looking tires. The coker and the Firestones are around $90/ea.
Does anybody have any recommendations or experience with any of these tires. Where's a good place to buy the Avons?
    Any help is appreciated!

I have the Avon S/M MKII on the front of my bike , and a Coker / Firestone on the back . . . they are a little squirly on the highway , but you just push through it , no biggie . I like em both and Coker is a good bet to get them I guess .

  4. I've been running Avons since the 60's. If you are doing an old school type Bobber remember, Cooker didn't exhist then. I currently run VenomX by choice after trying several other brands,

I have a Firestone Deluxe Champion car tire in the back of my Pan,also from Coker.I would go for the Firestone motorcycle tire from Coker.I absolutely LOVE this tires.Damn good looking !!! For me there isn't any better looking tire.

thanks for the replies, guys! I agree that the Firestones are the best looking tires, but I hear mixed statements about their quality.
It seems the Avon gets better reviews as far as quality and handling are concerned.

I pick up this tire from the local bike shop, Roaddogs. I cant remember what brand it was It just says cl***ic on it, road nice. The only problem I had was on the freeways with the grooves cut in to road.

The Firestone round back with a Speedmaster rib up front is a cl***y combo. When I wear my back tire out, I'm thinking about going the 18" route and no cheesy whitewalls this time. I'd love a pair of aluminum Akront rims too.
Man I'm inspired to do my bike up again.

Hey Mike show 'em the bike you stole. No really, the dude stole this project.

I made up my mind, actually I just ordered the Avon SM MKII 5-16 and the 3.25-19 (ribbed) online through tiresunlimited.com. Their prices were $61 for the front and $96 for the rear with free shipping!
    Plans for the project include:
    -6" streched hardtail
-new rims and SS spokes (front and back)
-polished ribbed aluminum rear fender, no front
    -vintage HD type solo seat
-small(er) mustang type tank with deep tunnel
    -drag bars
    -chrome fork tubes
    -Sparto taillight (thanks Nads!)
-Beehive style oil tank (home made)
I got most of the stuff on order and I can hopefully start wrenching pretty soon.
Here is the picture of the project bike. The motor is partially rebuilt and I have a brand new Boyer electronic ignition for it. If anybody is interested in andy of the stuff I'm not going to need, send me a pm.
I paid $900 for it, btw.
