This thing is really fun to drive, I think I put more miles on it today than it has seen in years. It feels more like a Hot Rod than a Custom. It goes pretty good. The guy I got it from said he's only put about 700 miles on it since 1968! It kind of seems the guy did more harm than good to it. He was a shop teacher and would let the kids work on it. They must have tried stripping it with a body grinder because its pretty wavey in spots. Overall it is pretty decent though. I HATE the grill, I think I'm pulling it out tommarrow. The bumper guards too. It runs great and drives good too. The only thing is it has a shake, kind of like a bad U joint or something. I think it is the flywheel being out of balance, because it will do it when the car is in neutral. This is how it looked 40 years ago when Shifts had it.

Yeah I suppose. It's pretty smooth until it gets over 2500 rpm. I'll have to pull the motor to fix it either way. When the guy I got it from explained the problem to me, I was hoping it would be a U joint or a bad pinion angle. I'll just nurse it around until I can yank it apart. I would imagine if the flywheel is out of balance, it could be hard on the engine.
Looks like you're heading the same direction with color and looks that Dave has in his photo's...! No caps, spots, and a different color...! I'm surprised Dave didn't give you a gallon of "Lavender" (the new pink!)! Hey I've got some Wheels for that car and they're the Right color... ! Mark
Thats is a great story and the car is in good hands. Shifts told me the story about the car at the HAMB Drags and was very excited to see the car again. Congrats Bob!
Holy ****! Does Bob still have this? The guy he bought it from was my shop teacher up here in Brillion, I know that car really well. I'd love to know what happened to it. The previous owner always wondered who built it and when, if he didn't ever find out, I'd love to fill him in with the details. I've never seen this thread before, I always wondered if the guy who bought it was a HAMBer.
