History Bob's Big Boy Broiler Opens In Downey!

The Dukes had a great show there today (Sun). The place was packed,infact I couldn't even find a parking place, Had to quickly park in the "No Parking ."
I'm real under the weather today,so I didn't stay long. .
Thanx to all those who came out today, Jim said the restaurant did great sales and the quality of cars were top notch! One if I had to chose was a very wacked 49-50 Merc Kustom with Desoto teeth, He parked at the front.

 

Hey Kevin how come every time I see a picture with Joe in it he's working his "A" off, don't you let him have any fun? lol...lol..

When I spoke with Jim he mentioned that this particular show was honoring one of the Fernando Ruelas who had been ill. Unfortunately, Fernando passed away on Friday, just before the show. Fernando was one of the Ruelas Brothers who founded The Dukes back in the 1950s.

 

Jim and Kevin asked me to post a note to let everyone know that a Japanese television show will be filming a special on American car culture at the Broiler tomorrow during CK's regular Wednesday night cruise. They'll be focusing on classic 50's hot rods, so come on down before 6pm for an opportunity to be interviewed and included in the show!

Just post the date for the cruz for George's Diner. The only weekend that I'm out of town is November 6th and 7th. I'll be up at Willow Springs Raceway for the Vintage Auto Racing Association "Big Bore Bash". I have been to every BBB since the first one in 2002. Only ten dollars to get in (good for both days). They have six racing groups plus a special race Ford vs. Chevy race cars and the L.A. Shelby Club will be there for some exhibition races for their club. If you want to see All American Iron in action this is the event to come to!

fernando was president of the dukes car club ive known him personally and his family for at least 15 years.. he was a great guy loved vintage chevys and his family... he was a big supportter of the broiler along with the dukes car club... never had anything bad to say...

 

does anyone know when his funeral service will be..

 

friday in buena park you can go to dukes web site... friday is service at church in buena park and sat is the funeral in rowland hieghts...

 

Thx 4 coming out last night everyone, Those Kats will be back on Friday Night as well to film some "Hoppers" for the Vintage Bombs Cruise Nite. I'm gonna try to hit Toluca lake then head over to the Broiler, After all, Isn't that where All Roads Lead To????

I keep hearing the nicest, most positive things about Fernando. He must have been quite a person. I'm sorry I didn't have a chance to meet him.

I didn't see you there . The usual suspects showed up, but not as much as would've been expected for such a HOT Nite!. We passed out flyers @ the Twilight Cruise for both the Sat & Weds Car Nites, So Come on out and support for what we all worked for. Remember,This is your place to cruise, .

Update before we plan a date to present George's Diner with our gifts. At this moment there are only 4 cars donated to this cause. We would like more, so look at what you already have that you can part with if that makes it easier to donate. If they could post a list of the die cast and maybe a pic or two, our people on here could keep a look out at the swap meets and such if they see someone selling combinations of cars that include some of the stolen cars it might lead to the thief’s, I am sure they are going to try to turn these into cash at some point

 

Point taken. However this more about group freinds from one hang out helping another and making a fun day of it, we'll let CSI deal with it .

I doubt that we'd find the culprits,so we'll just move on and just donate what people will provide. C'mon and throw a lil support for one of our Ghost Cruise starting points. .
