Bodies from raw sheet metal with barely any tools!

Came accross this on the net not long ago. Seems that this guy is making bodies out of rolls of steel and slapping them on to beat up old cars to create "supercars".

The cars might not be HAMB friendly, but I was curious about the metal he is using, because it looks fairly soft, and easy to work into a body.

This choice of metal seems like it can't be a good idea....or is it?

    Thoughts??

By the way, note the distinct lack of tools!!

Brilliant, that's how I work, not quite as extreme, but I always try to make stuff, before I order anything.

what is that soft sheet metal they start with ?

I could see using that on non stuctural parts like hood scoops etc....

People who have learned how to manipulate and shape sheet metal can make it look easy, it isn't at all, but people can make it look easy.

The finished car is out of scale but, I'm amazed at what they were able to achieve with such basic tools...

I watched that whilst living in India for a year. If you want your 10 minutes back, how do you think I feel about my year?

While it's interesting to see him take a pile of used shit and make it shiny is rather clever, but to me it is just a shiny rat rod.

I watched #1 and #3 with a lot of FFWD, dunno why, guess I'm a sucker for freakshows.

Anyway, racer is a liberal term for what they did. Restyled yes, but otherwise scabbed together from a limited menu of parts. Looked like most parts were chosen out of necessity rather than freedom of choice. Personally felt very sorry for the dude that used to work on ferraris. A lot harder to fabricate the mechanicals of a race car from total scratch than it is the body.

BTW, the bodies appeared to be nice even if the styling was local flavored and almost VW kit carish.

Imagine what he could do if he had good taste and something cool to start with.

You better hope no producers read this thread. The only thing worst than corvette summer, would be corvette summer as a bollywood musical. And the blame for it's bastard DNA would lie squarely with you.

Bollywood Corvette Summer? Sounds like a Family Guy flashback.

Cut the guy some slack. I'm impressed.
Considering the fact that he started with a 10 gallon bucket of rust and dog shit, plus the fact that he has nothing resembling the metal working tools we [here in the west] take for granted... Plus the fact that he did all of this in a friggin 3rd world country.

Bottom line, the Dude's got tallent. If he had started with some better bones it would have been amazing.

check out Chop Shop: London Garage, when they did the same work in London,

the guy has talent but no style, if you see the ugly piles he built you might agree,

the show is OK, you learn a few things on how to build a car from a junker , but check out the 8-10 inch wheel spacers and you see how unsafe most of the builds are....

See why they needed to raise it an inch, after the bondo and steel it probably weighs as much as a excursion.

i seen this a few months ago... pretty impressive work if they'd take the time to stick the things on a decent chassis and have a safe car...
