I'm seriously thinking of starting a Training School/Shop to get new rodder's off to a good start on there projects. It will be geared for the DIY and will cover welding basics, body fillers and proper sanding techniques, priming and blocking, and the application of color and clear coats. My question is this, Do you think this would be of interest to anyone or is it a pipe dream. I have over 25 years experience in body and paint and I am currently a Technical Rep and Trainer for a large paint supply house. Your thoughts please....
Sounds like a good idea, I'm young but I've been doin this a few years now. I would've liked to have some training when I started. I just kind of dove in head first on my car and taugh myself how not to do things. Guess and check got me where I am now running my own kustom paint business. Could've saved lots of time and money with some real training.
Hey, Do you like to travel? Are you thinkin' an aproach like Covell and Windfield are doing? Once you've exhausted the demographic in your area, what than? Based on my experance in the 70s' & 80s', with vocational train- ing, once guys figure out that auto body repair is a tough way to make a living not many follow through. Most guys want "quick &- dirty" results, not slow, hard, but real. Perhaps, today with hot rodders and kustom guys, workin on their own vehicles, things are different? Good luck! S****ey Devils C.C.
