It appears that the body bracket on my coupe frame is back further when compared to my Tudor. Were Coupes set up differently than the Tudor, or did someone move it? If so, why would someone want to? This explains all the clearance I have between firewall and engine! The bracket on my Tudor is almost a good 2inches more forward than the Coupe bracket.....you can see other holes, but the bracket looks to be factory riveted....anyone? IMG_1385.JPG

Model A coupe frames are different than tudor frames when it comes to the body mounting bracket. You just need to move the bracket. You should be able to find marks on the frame where you drill new holes.

  5. I ***ume you are talking about a '30 Model A since your profile has one listed. All of the frames should be the same (coupe, Tudor and others) except for an extra/relocated mount for a specific body style (slant window sedan if I remember correctly) in 1931. What is the serial number of your frame? Figure out what is happening before you start cutting/drilling. Something is wrong and I doubt it is the frame/brackets. Try posting your question on fordbarn (https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=3). just a thought, but the sedan bodies are shorter than the coupes, did you measure from the rear ?

The later A frames had that bracket moved forward so only 1 bolt is used. Earlier frame, the bracket was back so both were used.

If you look closely at the photo, you can see holes that look like they match the bracket.

Well, according to Jim Schild’s restorers manual, the front mounts are the same for all body styles for 30-31. So, someone has moved those brackets at some point. For what I don’t know? IMG_1400.JPG

In November 1930, Ford introduced frame A-5005-D, the forth frame in the series. It was for the 1930, 190-A Victoria and 1930, Slant Window models. The cowl support mounting brackets were moved rearward 2 and 3/8". The unused rivet holes remained.
