    Hi All,

I know there have been some post on this previously, but I was hoping to get clear concise info...

I have a new set of Boling Bros Backing plates (rear), but I am going to use them on the front without the e-brake components... and I was wondering if I can buy the wheel cylinders and hardware from any of the big box stores. If so, does anyone know the cylinder and hardware part numbers?

I have a really nice set of hubs and drums and shoes from a 48 ford... can I use these with these backing plates, or are there and big store parts that I need to use?

    Any info is greatly appreciated!

    B

The stock drums require a 1.75 wide shoe. The wheel cylinders are no mystery just send Boling Bros an E-mail asking for the numbers.

  3. Or just order from them. I dont think their prices on replacement stuff is out of line. And you will be guaranteed the right stuff, and not some knucklehead guessing at it.

Cycle Tech has the best answer. Go right to the source to get it right. In the mean time here's a little background info.

In 1999 I bought the complete Boling Bros, brake package for my 40 Ford from Cornhuskers Rod and Custom including the 2 in. wide brake shoes instead of the stock 1 3/4 in. I called MT Products (559-684-8600) and spoke with Derrick. He said the larger bore 1 1/8 in. bore wheel cylinders go on the front wheels and the smaller 1 in bore wheel cylinders go on the rear. Wheel cylinder Part numbers are as follows: ( Raybestos WC 7536 (right front) and WC 7537 (left front) are 1 1/8 in. bore -ports angle towards the rear of car.
Raybestos wheel cylinders WC7563 (left rear) and WC 7564 (right rear) are 1 in bore.
To replace the 2 in. brake shoes ask for Raybestos brake shoes number 340PG of get them from MT Products, Rear shoes have thicker linings.

Check this out: Search internet for best prices. This is just a quick sample.

    Raybestos® WC7537 - Element3™ Front Passenger Side Drum Brake Wheel Cylinder (carid.com)
    and

It would be best for you to call (Bolling Bros) directly as part numbers may have changed since I bought my kit. 24 years ago. Here's contact info. Boling Brothers They will give you the info. you need. make sure you tell them if you want 2 in or 1 3/4 in. wide brake shoes. @ in. shoes require longer hold down pins.
Here's the contact info. for Gary at Cornhuskers:
    Cornhusker Rod & Custom (cornhuskerrodandcustom.net)
    Hope this helps.

Could you please tell us what front hose part numbers you are using with those front wheel cylinders.
