Hey does anybody know where i can get some bomber seats? or any of you have any forsale? I know there has been threads on bomber seats but theres gotta be some more info on em. Thanks wagoon
I can't believe how much people want for them. I want to build some and have a buddy working at the airport who is trying to score the rivet tools, to make them authentic looking. If I ever get it done I will sell them pretty cheap.
Once you figure out how much you have in material and how much time you have making them the idea of selling them cheap will go right out the window. There is a good reason why they aren't readily available for a REASONABLE price. Oh yea, there is also the cost of a shear, break, bead roller, rivet tools, etc. if you don't already have them Frank
****ty Seats and Rod Interiors sells them. They're sort of bomber seats. Fibergl*** shells with upholstery on them. Not really close to authentic bomber seats, but I guess if you HAVE to have them and you can't find them.
i made the pair in this car....not totally finished, no edges on them yet make me an offer as is Zach
I have the same pair, very nice. scootermcrad here's the pics of the set that Frank makes. Very cool guy too.
Hmm... link to the pic isn't working for some reaons. Can anyone else enlarge the picture? Maybe it's just my work computer.
I got this pair at the Kalamazoo swap meet. Not really the "bomber" seats but they are aircraft seats. I think they are nifty. I got the pair for what one of the repos cost. Not a bargain, but what the hell, I liked them.
...hey bubba, what you have there is a couple of late 30's Beech-18 p***enger seats. I've got a couple of those myself...they make great deck chairs too...
A friend of mine just purchased a CNC Plasma Cutter (4'x4' table), and I am going to be making my own bomber seats in the next few weeks. Could you guys give me some rough dimensions on some of yours? I am going to 3D model a few styles this week, but I'm not quite sure how I want to do them, or exactly how big I need to make them. Also, do most of these have vertical backs, or is there a bit of lean to them? - Matt
Good to know, Thanks Larry! Now when someone asks, I have a better answer than I dunno....I got 'em at a swapmeet. Ha Ha Ha
stock they have baout 10+/- degrees i think but i leaned mine back a bit more. having a way to cut them out is the least concern. the biggest problem is all the rivets, overlaps and beads with sharp ends but if that cnc can put all the holes in for the rivest, that would save alot of time good luck Zach
A friend found this for me at a yard sale. The data plate says its from a F89, a jet interceptor introduced in the early 50's. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/F-89_Scorpion
I was gonna run bombers until I saw everyone in there brother thinks there made of GOLD I picked up a set of KIRKEY racing seats from summit. A little spendy, but they look sick and I didn't give my CASH to someone overcharging just becasue. A little new meets old kinda thing. Not traditional, but its my ride and I like em
I have a set from GP Autocrafters too, they are a real bargain. I polished mine and am attempting to edge them with copper tubing
I believe using british sport car parts is traditional.I've seen armstrong lever shocks on hot rods for decades
