Those things are too Bitchin for a car, I need a set of those for my Kitchen table!! Awesome work Nc, truly artful. Just curios, how long does it take you to do a set like the seats in the first two pics of your last posting?
Metals only react with each other with moisture and different minerals present. Don't think that would be a problem with these seats. Very COOL, I would really like a set for my 29 A but then the seats would be worth more then the whole damn car!
From us trimmers out there, all I can say is , damn son, you're killing us ! Most times we just do a small cushion for bomber seats, but I would not want to hide any part of those works of art. Well done !
All dissimilar metals have a reaction called galvanic corrosion. There's much listed on the web about this topic. Here's one... http://www.engineersedge.com/galvanic_capatability.htm
great work.. as im almost into my 40's i need padding be a shame to cover them up tho.. but for me comfort come first.. see im even thinking old.. sigh.. jumps off cliff. keep up the great work chris.
Great work again Jamey I love my buckets and my car is days away from being on the road finally. For the guys wanting a price, pm him. For the quality and out of this world looks his seats are much cheaper than you might think. And as you can tell he does custom to order so you can get about anything you want. I made some pads for mine top and bottom but left the fancy parts all showing.
Hello NCJamey, I love your work and artistic talent. The way the rivets flow with the shape of the seats is what makes them so cool to my eyes. Without them, there would be large boring empty spaces. However, my un-fun, practical side sees rivets, which were made to hold things together, sitting in a single sheet of metal. That doesn't make sense to me. Wouldn't round dimples protuding out of the places where the sheet metal is single-layered give the same effect? It seems like it would weigh less and be faster to manufacture, too. The rivets look undeniably cool, but my mind can't get around their uselessness where they're not needed. This is not a criticism. I just was wondering how you thought round dimples would look, since you're the artist/expert and I'm just a random guy with a keyboard and a pile of car parts in the back yard. If the home-made seats I'm planning turn out 1/4 as nice as yours, I'll be happy.
Thank you Wsdad.... the seat you are taking about doesnt have any rivets going threw a single panel. Every rivet on that seat is going threw 2 to 3 panels. The customer on that seat said he wanted alot of rivets. I ask each of my customers what type of look or style they want and i do my best to create something that fits there ideas. I hope that helps.
Heres another seat i did this past spring. The guy asked for Holes Holes and more Holes... There is also a iPhone holder on the top of the console.
