There are always some great hot rods or customs hanging out around the salt.

  2. It would be worth it if you had to ride a moped for days to get there!

    Ya, you're right!

  6. I'm heading out for the first time this, with a push from my wife! Actually we're both going, taking daily driver with accomodations shared with a new friend from the Lansing, MI area. Hope to be there for Saturday, but definitely until Wednesday.

In that case I should quit pissing and moaning about not having vacation time and the 12 hour drive!

Seeing your car out on the salt would be a treat too... there'd be a lot of gawkers, for sure! I'd be one... hahaha.

Just to keep this on top. Here's the link again: automotivephotos@gmail.com

Mike, These photos you do are great.
I camped there too last year but picked high ground. By about 3 inches.

No pressure, but if if you could get a speed shot of the 608 AA/GL, we will for sure buy that from you. We have a guy that meets us at the salt and takes static pics, but for whatever reason he don't get speed shots.

BTW, the 608 is the first AA/GL to top 300 on CARBURETORS, No EFI, No computers. Just mechanics and a driver. Two other AA's, Hammond 77 and Sparky, have been over 3 but with EFI.

    Oh, I sent something, too.

See you all on the Salt.

    Frank

  13. I have very limited vacation time, we leave after work on Friday and drive straight through. I have to be back at work on Tuesday. Its also a 12 hour drive for us. We usually do it in shifts.

Last year every one bagged out on me. So I just drove straight down by myself. None of us has a "cool" road trip worthy car, so its just daily's for us.

I know nothing about racing, I don't have any real favorites, I just go, well because, its Bonneville.

I have no idea how old you are, but if you keep putting off going, and finally go five or ten years from now, you will be kicking yourself in the ass for missing something that cant really be described ... It has to be experienced.

Lookin' forward to beling there for my first at age 70, crewing on Gordon Leland's C G/R and I'll be looking also for some of the 4E4 gang from Calif, Brierley, Mosher, et al. I'll be honored if they let me hand 'em a wrench once or twice. So far my luck is holding; I even got a motel room reservation yesterday! Be arrivin' Saturday and heading home Tuesday morn.
I wish some of us guys had big signs with our HAMB names on em cuz I'd really like to run across Mazooma the Flat Cad crew, and a lot of others on this thread.

Damn... we'll be there only three weeks from today. Looking forward to meeting a bunch of you out there!

This pile should be running on Sunday. There'll still be some loose ends to tie up, but hopefully a couple weeks will be enough of a shakedown before the Bonneville trip. About 1100 miles from Omaha.

You guys that build something and make a "shakedown" run that's 1100 miles have my respect.

So, has Mike gotten enough to make it to the salt?

As far as HAMBers and long shakedowns, I know there's Mr. Model T and Powerwagonmaniac, Chris, and Malcolm. Are there any others building (or rebuilding) a car and bringing it out?

I just sent some $$ to help Mike get to Bonneville.

Also, I think Drew is finishing up his tub to drive out...

Maybe next year. I'm shooting for 8/10-12, on the opening weekend. Would it be worth it to go for just that weekend?

  27. Yep, you see the most on the first weekend.

  28. I'm looking forward to meeting you and your Roadster in person. :D

Plans are coming together! I am probably riding with Craig from MyRideIsMe and will be there the first weekend. Can't wait!!!

I'm hoping to meet lots of HAMB friends too. I'll try to either wear HAMB, Airaid, or Church shirts so if you see me say hi.
