Car is looking great! I love the (way thicker) pro stock style driveshaft tunnel; I think the SCTA techs will too! I, too, used a Maval rack on our roadster (D/GRMR, but not too HAMB-friendly looking even though its a '27); did you get a 20:1?. See you on the Salt next year. vic

X2, looks like it's got a great start.
    Nice welds too.
    *****in' car.
What is the current mph record in your cl***?

  4. The current record is 123mph. Enbloc is shipping his record setting banger motor over from England to run in the car... we wouldn't have a chance in hell of having the car out there this year if he wasn't a part of the team.

Also, I have to stress this IS a team effort... my side kick Tim Sage who was my partner on the BFD is here a couple times a week, Rodger Griffith who is a jack of all trades who has experience with more things in life and cars than the rest of us put together and my good friend Matt Jamison who brings an attention to detail to the project that is second to none... then we have others like Jeremy, Brett, Dan and Don who lend a helping hand whenever they can.

I couldn't imagine a guy doing this all alone in his garage... it's be lonely and take a long, long time.

On the drive shaft tunnel... it is similar to the one in the BFD. In that car I sat on top of it...

The only big question really... is building the tanneau cover and hood. DRD57 has a guy in his shop that does aluminum shaping in his shop who we're planning on talking to.

Rich Fox, you're less than an hour away... you should come by some time!

Sam: Sano work, as always. I Love the ****saver[TM] too! Refreshing to build a car without worrying about weight, huh? Like said above, ballast in the center of a salt car is good medicine.
Can't wait to see it blast across the salt! Love those 'bangers...

Good to see you back and posting about a project, been too long. I'm loving the attention to detail and general quality of this build. but I expect no less from you and your gang.
BTW, Are you leaving room for a SBC transplant for when you tire of the Banger?:D Just kidding but I'd be surprised if you hadn't thought about other cl***es with an engine change. Keep posting progress, we're eagerly waiting.

sam the t looks amazing, really cool to hear enbloc is shipping his engine over.

are you going to be able to raise the rear up throw some fenders on and run as a street roadster as well as modified?

Very nice build , looking forward to the next batch of pics.

  14. Thanks for all the great comments guys!

It'll keep the morale in the Bomb Factory high!

As far as running another cl***... the car has a non-removeable belly pan, so it's Modified Roadster only.

  15. Looking good sir, looking good.

Say g'day to Tim and all involved.

    Steering next?

  17. Awesome project and spectacular execution! It will be fun to see how it runs.

  18. Are you shipping him in the same box...?

  19. Now there's an idea!
Just give him a month's supply of vienna sausages and beer, drill a couple of air holes in the crate... and bon voyage!

Whoa, that thing is bad***! Good luck SAM!

  21. Thanks for the update Sam!

If you guys search for Sams other update threads you will be impressed. His built from scratch 32 frame rail thread is THE BEST one ever posted on the HAMB. No offense but it makes the one in the tech section look like a government bureaucracy.

now, that's a hotrod! extremely fascinating

  23. I don't know T-man... I was more impressed with the government one.

    My frame is just simple.

Also guys, I appreciate all the nice comments about my welds... but any of you guys can do it... and I can show you how in just four easy steps.

Most guys have a steady learning curve... but with my technique, you'll become a good welder overnight.

    Here's how it's done:

First step... never, I mean NEVER replace the little plastic lense in your welding helmet.

Second step... let that ****er get really, really dirty... splattered with weld specks, fogged over from argon haze... and just plain dirty. You know it's about right when you can't see what you're doing.

Third step... this is important... weld blind for months on end. You'll want to do this until your welds look pretty decent.

Fourth and final step... replace your lense with a new one. This is when you will really see a difference in your ability as a welder improve.

I have to confess though... it was my friend Steve who got me to this fourth and final step. He comes over, looks at my helmet, and says "What the f*** are doing with this??" and then made me change it.

  24. Well, you ARE a government employee so that makes sense;)

Now THAT is a welding lesson to take to heart. LOL Sounds a lot like my buddy Jay when he saw my helmet, then handed me his to use. It's pretty amazing when you can actually see through the lense.

    :D hahaha.

Missed this thread I guess. Things are looking really really good. And I think that year of T is the hardest to make look good at all. Is the steering one of those half racks? That might be one of the only places where one would actually make sense. And pedal arms look new... but old. That kink right down by the pivot on the clutch pedal looks Ford. But with everything flap-wheeled or polished.

And I guess with the big *** saver tube, ****ter shield and monster plate/bellypan flooring you're allowed to leave everything else exposed in the ****pit?

    Again, looks good.
